What We Do

The Office of Community Engagement serves as UMB’s liaison to communities across the state of Maryland, focusing on partnerships with K-12 public schools, community organizations, nonprofits, and local businesses.

UMB attracts more than a half-billion dollars a year in external grants and contracts, supporting a wide range of research initiatives.

This initiative focuses on building leadership skills among students and promoting diversity and inclusion within the university community.

UMB Police and Public Safety promotes a safe and secure campus environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors through professional public safety services.

A program designed to inspire and prepare underrepresented middle and high school students for careers in health and biomedical sciences.

A 14-acre research park that is home to a growing cluster of bioscience companies, fostering innovation and collaboration.

Funded Projects

Developing an Integrated Tele-Sleep Mobile Platform

The University of Maryland and military partners developed WellTap®, a tele-sleep platform using wearable tech to improve sleep care for service members. By enabling remote monitoring, mobile treatments, and virtual consultations, the project addresses sleep disorders in the military, aiming to boost Warfighter health, readiness, and system-wide care access.
