Military Infectious Diseases
This area focuses on the research and development of medical protection against emerging infectious disease threats to support the Warfighter’s ability to operate in any environment where these diseases are endemic/epidemic. Research and development efforts may include the prevention, prediction, and treatment of military infectious disease threats, combat wound infections, and sepsis.

Combat Casualty Care
This area focuses on the research and development of medical solutions for the acute and early management of combat-related trauma, including point of injury, en route, and facility-based care. Research and development efforts may include drugs, biologics, and/or devices for diagnosis and treatment; en-route care and intensive critical care; semi-autonomous and autonomous technologies for critical care and evacuation; solutions for combined injuries; and training and education to support sustainment of expeditionary medical skills.
