The Southwest Texas Regional Advisory Council (STRAC) is dedicated to developing, implementing, and maintaining a regional trauma and emergency healthcare system for the 22 counties in Trauma Service Area – P. STRAC aims to reduce death and disabilities related to trauma, disaster, and acute illness through well-coordinated emergency response systems, striving to be a model for emergency healthcare in the United States.

What We Do

STRAC provides scholarship funding to support EMS recruitment, education, and retention, aiming to increase the EMS workforce within the region.

A consortium aimed at reducing pre-hospital death due to hemorrhage by providing whole blood to patients in need.

Development and maintenance of a comprehensive stroke care system to improve outcomes for stroke patients.

STRAC promotes effective injury prevention initiatives through education and community outreach.

STRAC oversees the regional trauma system, ensuring efficient interfacility transfer processes and coordinated responses to trauma patients.

Management of clinical and operational issues impacting emergency departments in the region.
