The Wireless Research Center (WRC) is an independent, private nonprofit research center based in North Carolina’s Research Triangle region. Since 2010, WRC has advanced global innovation in wireless connectivity through applied research, engineering, and certified testing. WRC supports clients worldwide, helping develop and commercialize wireless products from concept to high-volume production. The organization is recognized for its unique intellectual property policy, allowing clients to retain full ownership of jointly developed IP. WRC’s core initiatives—WRC Technologies, RIoT, Connected Communities, and the Advanced Mobility Collective—focus on improving wireless technologies, accelerating startups, supporting entrepreneurs, and fostering technology-led economic development. WRC is a catalyst for collaboration among local governments, schools, companies, and global partners, integrating technology and innovation into communities to improve lives and bridge the digital divide.

What We Do

Design, evaluation, and optimization of RF designs and antennas for a wide range of applications, including custom solutions. Services include simulation, prototyping, and performance measurement using advanced tools and facilities.

Accredited passive antenna testing using the Satimo SG-64 chamber, capable of measuring a variety of antenna parameters across 400 MHz to 18 GHz. Services include testing for prototypes, final products, and competitive analysis.

A2LA accredited and CTIA/Verizon authorized lab for Over-the-Air (OTA) performance testing of cellular devices, following industry-standard test plans for LTE, WCDMA, and legacy technologies.

Pre-certification testing and mitigation services for OTA and FCC compliance, including TRP and TIS measurements, troubleshooting, and engineering support to ensure successful certification outcomes.

Field measurements and propagation modeling for wireless systems, including deployment of portable towers and use of advanced test equipment to evaluate real-world performance.

RF and antenna design services for IoT and wearable devices, from early concept to mass production, including system evaluation, simulation, and compliance support.

WRC is a certified CTIA Test Lab for over-the-air (OTA) testing of cellular devices.

WRC is an approved Verizon Authorized Independent Test Lab for OTA radiated performance.

WRC is accredited by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) for testing and calibration.

A group of public and private-sector partners developed a nationwide, standardized digital emergency paging system transmitting voice, data, images, video, and GIS over NextGen TV.
