Huang Lab


Academic translational research laboratory focused on tumor immunology and immunotherapy for pediatric and adolescent/young adult cancers. Core activities include intravital and fluorescence imaging of immune–tumor interactions, preclinical development of cell- and vaccine-based immunotherapies, monoclonal antibody discovery, mechanistic studies of metastasis and immune checkpoints, and translation of preclinical findings into IND-enabling studies and clinical trials. The laboratory is integrated with an ACGME-accredited pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship program and hospital clinical infrastructure.

News & Updates

Awarded a $1.35M, 3-year grant to support immune-based clinical trials targeting metastatic pulmonary osteosarcoma.

Preclinical data and a clinical trial concept from the laboratory contributed to an industry partner's IND approval and orphan-drug designation for a TGF-beta receptor kinase inhibitor in osteosarcoma.

Ongoing and past funding from NCI/NIH mechanisms, St. Baldrick's Foundation, Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, Hyundai Hope-on-Wheels and private foundations supporting basic and translational projects.

Trainees associated with the program have received trainee awards including FRAP awards and foundation postdoctoral fellowships.
