TBI Navigator Official Release

With support from Combat Casualty Care Research Program (CCCRP) and MTEC, Moberg Analytics has developed and released TBI Navigator, a smartphone app designed to enhance the assessment, management, and triage of patients with suspected traumatic brain injuries (TBI) in prehospital and prolonged care settings.

This innovative tool guides users through comprehensive assessment protocols, including the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) and the Tactical Military Acute Concussion Examination (TMACE), while also monitoring vital signs. It generates detailed patient reports that can be easily transferred to higher levels of care, facilitating better communication and continuity in treatment. The development of the TBI Navigator marks a significant advancement in combat medical technology, made possible through collaborations with key partners such as Ragged Edge Solutions, the Prolonged Field Care Collective, Penn Medicine, CCCRP, and the Medical Technology Enterprise Consortium (MTEC). Looking forward, Moberg Analytics plans to enhance the TBI Navigator by integrating it with the Battlefield Assisted Trauma Distributed Observation Kit (BATDOK) through a partnership with the Air Force Research Laboratory.

Moberg Analytics aims to leverage synergies between the TBI Navigator and a recent project awarded by the Telemedicine & Advanced Technology Research Center (TATRC) focused on passive data collection using sensor suite technologies within the Autonomous Casualty Care (AC2) research portfolio. This initiative seeks to automate casualty care and medical documentation in tactical environments, reinforcing the TBI Navigator’s role in transforming battlefield medicine. Overall, the TBI Navigator reflects Moberg Analytics’ commitment to improving precision care across various settings, from neuro ICUs to battlefield scenarios. By collaborating with other organizations and clinical teams, Moberg Analytics is dedicated to adapting advanced technologies to meet the unique challenges faced by soldiers, ultimately enhancing care quality and outcomes in high-stakes environments.

The research project award recipients were selected from the respondents to MTEC’s Request for Project Proposals soliciting medical technological solutions related to MTEC’s Technology Focus Areas (Solicitation #MTEC-21-06-MPAI).
