Abstract

A sink insert for cleaning medical or surgical devices having lumens includes a basin and at least two pumps. The basin is shaped to be inserted into a sink and to hold cleaning liquid, and includes an additive reservoir integrally formed in its floor, having additive fill lines defining a plurality of pre-calibrated volume measurement areas for measurement of additives. Basin fill lines positioned on one or more side walls of the basin define a plurality of pre-calibrated volume measurement areas for measurement of a liquid filled into the basin to form the cleaning liquid. At least one of the two pumps has an inlet tube for drawing the cleaning liquid from the basin into the pump, and an outlet tube for pressurized output of the cleaning liquid directed to the medical or surgical device. One or more of the pumps is removable from the sink insert.

Core Innovation

The invention relates to a sink insert for cleaning one or more medical or surgical devices having lumens. The sink insert includes a basin shaped to be inserted into a sink and to hold cleaning liquid, and the basin comprises an additive reservoir integrally formed in a floor of the basin in the form of a depression. The additive reservoir includes additive fill lines defining a plurality of pre-calibrated volume measurement areas for measurement of additives to the cleaning liquid.

The basin further comprises basin fill lines positioned on one or more side walls of the basin, defining a plurality of pre-calibrated volume measurement areas for measurement of a liquid filled into the basin to form the cleaning liquid. The basin is connected to at least two electrically powered pumps, and a first pump comprises an inlet tube configured for drawing the cleaning liquid from the basin into the first pump.

The first pump further comprises an outlet tube configured for pressurized output of the cleaning liquid under pressure supplied by the first pump and directed to the medical or surgical device. The detailed description additionally provides optional elements such as a pump holding receptacle configured to protect pump electrical components from cleaning liquid and allow removable pump removal, and a thermometer mounted on one or more side walls to measure cleaning-liquid temperature.

Claims Coverage

The independent claim contains three main inventive areas: (i) a basin-shaped sink insert with integral additive reservoir and pre-calibrated fill-line measurement areas, (ii) basin fill lines defining pre-calibrated volume measurement areas for forming the cleaning liquid, and (iii) at least two electrically powered pumps with inlet and outlet tubes configured to draw and pressurize cleaning liquid to the lumen-containing medical or surgical device.

Sink-shaped basin with integral additive reservoir and pre-calibrated additive fill lines

A sink insert for cleaning one or more medical or surgical devices having lumens, including a basin shaped to be inserted into a sink and to hold cleaning liquid, where the basin comprises an additive reservoir integrally formed in a floor of the basin as a depression, including additive fill lines defining a plurality of pre-calibrated volume measurement areas for measurement of additives to the cleaning liquid.

Side-wall basin fill lines for pre-calibrated cleaning-liquid volume formation

A basin comprising basin fill lines positioned on one or more side walls, defining a plurality of pre-calibrated volume measurement areas for measurement of a liquid filled into the basin to form the cleaning liquid.

At least two electrically powered pumps with inlet and pressurized outlet to device lumens

At least two electrically powered pumps connected to the basin, where a first pump comprises an inlet tube configured for drawing the cleaning liquid from the basin into the first pump and further comprises an outlet tube configured for pressurized output of the cleaning liquid under pressure supplied by the first pump and directed to the medical or surgical device.

Overall, the claim coverage focuses on integrating a sink insert basin with an integral, pre-calibrated additive reservoir and side-wall pre-calibrated fill lines for forming the cleaning liquid, together with electrically powered pumps that draw cleaning liquid from the basin and deliver it as pressurized output directed to a lumen-containing medical or surgical device.

Stated Advantages

Not explicitly described in patent.
