Abstract
Provided are a medical needle and a puncturing instrument which make it possible to administer a predetermined amount of a substance to be administered into a living body and/or collect a predetermined amount of an object to be collected from within the living body with ease and accuracy. A medical needle (1) is provided with a puncturing part (10) which can penetrate into the living body. The puncturing part (10) has a pair of planar portions (12, 12) which are parallel to each other in an outer surface and a retaining chamber (18) defined within the puncturing part (10), the retaining chamber (18) passing through the puncturing part (10) and opening to the pair of planar portions (12) on each side. A puncturing instrument can be structured by accommodating the medical needle (1) in a casing in such a way that the medical needle (1) can project therefrom.
Core Innovation
The invention relates to a medical needle and puncturing part configured to penetrate into a living body. The puncturing part has planar portions whose outer surfaces are parallel to each other, and defines a retaining chamber that passes through the puncturing part and opens at the planar portions on each side.
The retaining chamber is shaped to increase in diameter toward the planar portions. In particular, the retaining chamber has a tapered shape obtained by joining together truncated ends of at least two truncated cone-shaped widening portions, such that a diameter of each truncated cone-shaped widening portion increases from inside the puncturing part toward a respective one of the planar portions.
The retaining chamber is configured to hold a substance to be administered and/or configured to collect an object from within the living body when the puncturing part is inserted into the living body. The disclosure also includes variants with multiple retaining chambers and structural embodiments including a puncturing instrument with a casing that accommodates a needle configured to project from the instrument, together with indwelling needle system and needle cartridge concepts.
Claims Coverage
The consolidated content provides three independent claims. The independent claims focus on a puncturing part with parallel planar portions and an internal retaining chamber that passes through and includes joined truncated cone-shaped widening portions, with the chamber used for either holding/administering a substance or collecting an object.
Planar puncturing part with through retaining chamber
A puncturing part configured to penetrate into a living body, the puncturing part having a pair of planar portions which are parallel to each other in an outer surface, and a retaining chamber defined within the puncturing part, wherein the retaining chamber passes through the puncturing part and opens to the pair of planar portions on each side.
Tapered chamber formed by joined truncated cone-shaped widening portions
The retaining chamber has a tapered shape obtained by joining together truncated ends of at least two truncated cone-shaped widening portions such that the retaining chamber increases in diameter toward each of the pair of planar portions from inside the puncturing part.
Substance holding and object collection chamber
A puncturing part configured to penetrate into a living body, the puncturing part having at least two planar portions and a retaining chamber passing through the puncturing part to provide an opening at outer surfaces of each of the at least two planar portions, the outer surfaces of the at least two planar portions being parallel to each other; wherein the retaining chamber is configured to hold a substance to be administered to the living body or to collect an object from within the living body when the puncturing part is inserted into the living body.
Across the independent claims, the core coverage is the same structural concept: a puncturing part with parallel planar outer portions and a retaining chamber that passes through and opens at the planar portions. The retaining chamber is tapered via joined truncated cone-shaped widening portions so the diameter increases from inside the puncturing part toward the planar portions, and the chamber is used either to hold/administer a substance or to collect an object upon insertion.
Stated Advantages
Allows holding and controlled release of a substance to be administered into a living body.
Allows collection of an object from within the living body when the puncturing part is inserted.
Documented Applications
Drug delivery system (DDS) and vaccination.
Collecting and analyzing minor components or single cells.
