Abstract

A method and composition for stimulating the proliferation and differentiation of stem cells is used to self-repair injury in mammals. A supplement is administered having an effective dose of blueberry, carnosine, catechin, green tea extract, VITABLUE® blueberry extract, Vitamin D3 or combinations of these. For example, a therapeutic amount of two or more of the supplements may be selected having a synergistic effect, allowing a lower dose to achieve the same or greater effective protection as a higher dose of any one of the supplements.

Core Innovation

The invention comprises a method and composition for stimulating the proliferation and differentiation of stem cells to promote self-repair of injury in mammals. The supplement administered contains an effective dose of blueberry, carnosine, catechin, green tea extract, VITABLUE® blueberry extract, Vitamin D3, or combinations of these substances. The combination of two or more supplements exerts a synergistic effect, allowing lower doses to achieve the same or greater effective protection compared to higher doses of any one supplement alone.

The background of the invention addresses the problem that in many diseases and with aging, stem cells and progenitors have reduced proliferative activity, which impairs healing and regeneration. Existing stem cell therapies largely focus on transplantation, while little effort is directed toward enhancing endogenous stem cells through nutritional strategies. However, effective doses of natural substances that affect stem cell proliferation are often impractical to consume through ordinary diets, presenting a challenge to implementing such approaches.

The invention solves this problem by identifying specific combinations of natural products that synergistically promote proliferation of human bone marrow cells, CD34+, and CD133+ progenitors. By compounding at least three substances from blueberry, carnosine, catechin, green tea extract, and Vitamin D3 into a supplement form, a substantial proliferative effect can be achieved in mammals with smaller, manageable doses. This method supports increased endogenous stem cell proliferation, protection against damage, and activation of repair mechanisms.

Claims Coverage

The patent contains four claims covering compositions and methods involving combinations of natural substances to stimulate stem cell proliferation. There are two independent claims: one related to the composition and one related to the method of administration.

Composition comprising specific quantities of natural substances for stimulating stem cell proliferation

A composition that includes 400 mg to 25 grams of blueberry extract, 10 mg to 100 mg of carnosine, 400 mg to 25 grams of green tea extract, and 2000 IU to 4000 IU of vitamin D3, formulated to stimulate stem cell proliferation.

Method of increasing stem cell proliferation by administering the composition

A method for increasing stem cell proliferation involving administering to a human in need thereof the composition consisting essentially of the specified amounts of blueberry extract, carnosine, green tea extract, and vitamin D3.

The claims focus on compositions with defined ranges of blueberry extract, carnosine, green tea extract, and vitamin D3, and methods for increasing stem cell proliferation by administering these compositions, emphasizing synergistic natural substances to achieve enhanced proliferation.

Stated Advantages

The combination of natural substances has a synergistic effect that promotes greater stem cell proliferation than individual components or known controls such as hGM-CSF.

The supplement allows effective doses to be administered in small, practical quantities, overcoming impractical consumption levels through diet alone.

The compositions and methods provide protection against oxidative damage and promote repair mechanisms in mammals, including improved outcomes after injury such as stroke.

Use of the natural compound combination avoids risks and high costs associated with cytokine therapies like G-CSF.

Documented Applications

Enhancement of endogenous stem cell proliferation and differentiation in mammals to promote natural healing and self-repair following injury or disease.

Treatment and mitigation of age-associated diseases and impairments related to reduced stem cell activity, including neurological conditions like stroke and Parkinson's disease.

Use as a dietary supplement to protect against oxidative damage and behavioral deficits resulting from cerebral ischemia and other injuries.

Promotion of proliferation and differentiation of hematopoietic stem cells, CD34+, and CD133+ progenitor cells for therapeutic benefit in mammals.
