Abstract

An analyte measurement device including an electronics housing including a shell having an upper surface with a first aperture defined therein; a mount mated to the shell and having an underside with a second aperture defined therein aligned with the first aperture; a collar disposed between the shell and the mount and including: a third aperture aligned with the first aperture and the second aperture, and a plurality of tabs on an outer periphery of the collar; a circuit board disposed within the electronics housing and including a plurality of electronic modules, wherein the circuit board is mounted within the electronics housing on the plurality of tabs on the outer periphery; and an analyte sensor including a tail portion extending through the first aperture and the second aperture and configured to measure an analyte level and a flag portion including a plurality of electrical contacts coupled with the circuit board, and a neck portion interconnecting the tail portion and the flag portion. An assembly for delivery of an analyte sensor is also disclosed.

Core Innovation

The analyte measurement device comprises an electronics housing formed by a shell with a first aperture, a mount with a second aperture aligned with the first aperture, and a collar disposed between the shell and the mount with a third aligned aperture. A plurality of tabs on the outermost periphery of the collar extend radially outward to define a shelf that supports a circuit board with electronic modules within the electronics housing.

The device includes an analyte sensor comprising a tail portion extending through the mount aperture configured to sense an analyte level, a flag portion with electrical contacts coupled with the circuit board, and a neck portion interconnecting the tail and flag portions. Further disclosed embodiments include a flexible printed circuit board, collar-to-housing sealing structures, a sharp hub extending through the aligned apertures, and sensor applicators with sealed sensor caps.

Claims Coverage

The claims identify one independent claim directed to an analyte measurement device with four inventive features.

Housing with aligned apertures

An electronics housing includes a shell with a first aperture, a mount mated to the shell with a second aperture aligned with the first aperture, and a collar disposed between the shell and the mount with a third aperture aligned with the first and second apertures.

Collar tabs defining a circuit-board shelf

A plurality of tabs on the outermost periphery of the collar extend radially outward to define a shelf on which the circuit board is mounted within the electronics housing.

Circuit board mounted within the housing

A circuit board including a plurality of electronic modules is disposed within the electronics housing and mounted on the shelf defined by the collar tabs.

Analyte sensor coupled to the circuit board

An analyte sensor includes a tail portion extending through the mount aperture configured to sense an analyte level, a flag portion with electrical contacts coupled with the circuit board, and a neck portion interconnecting the tail portion and the flag portion.

The independent claim integrates the apertured shell, mount, and collar assembly having tabs that define a circuit-board shelf with an analyte sensor extending through the mount and coupling to the circuit board.

Stated Advantages

Not explicitly described in patent.

Documented Applications

Measuring an analyte level using the analyte sensor of an analyte measurement device.
