Abstract
Provided herein are methods and systems of molecular profiling of diseases, such as cancer. In some embodiments, the molecular profiling can be used to identify treatments for a disease, such as treatments that were not initially identified as a treatment for the disease or not expected to be a treatment for a particular disease.
Core Innovation
The invention provides methods and systems for tumor or disease molecular profiling that identify candidate therapeutic agents for a patient with a particular cancer type. Data indicative of results of one or more molecular tests performed for a plurality of molecular profiling targets of a biological sample obtained from the patient are obtained, where the molecular tests comprise at least one selected from gene expression analysis and nucleic acid sequence analysis.
The system accesses a first database without using the particular cancer type to obtain corresponding reference values, and the corresponding reference values are not associated with the particular cancer type in the first database as part of the comparing. The obtained data are compared to the corresponding reference values from the first database, and the comparison is used to identify at least one therapeutic agent based on an indication that the comparison indicates a likely benefit to the patient.
A patient profile report is generated that presents the at least one therapeutic agent as a suitable agent for the patient. The description further provides clinical/diagnostic context for personalized oncology treatment and includes example biomarker rule relationships and patient profiling workflow for selecting therapeutic agents based on molecular profiling targets.
Claims Coverage
The independent claims identify four core inventive features across a computer system, a method, and a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium.
Molecular test data for multi-target profiling
Obtaining data indicative of results of one or more molecular tests for a plurality of molecular profiling targets of a biological sample obtained from a patient with a particular cancer type, where the molecular tests comprise at least one selected from gene expression analysis and nucleic acid sequence analysis.
Cancer-type-independent database reference values
Accessing, without using the particular cancer type, a first database to obtain corresponding reference values, wherein the corresponding reference values are not associated with the particular cancer type in the first database as part of the comparing.
Therapeutic agent identification from comparative benefit indication
Comparing the obtained data to the corresponding reference values from the first database to identify at least one therapeutic agent based on an indication that the comparison indicates a likely benefit to the patient.
Patient profile report presenting suitable agents
Generating a patient profile report that presents the at least one therapeutic agent as a suitable agent for the patient.
The independent claims are directed to comparing multi-target molecular test data against reference values obtained without using the particular cancer type, then identifying at least one therapeutic agent likely to benefit the patient and generating a patient profile report listing the suitable agent.
Stated Advantages
Allows identification of at least one therapeutic agent based on an indication that the comparison indicates a likely benefit to the patient.
Generates a patient profile report presenting the at least one therapeutic agent as a suitable agent for the patient.
Documented Applications
Tumor or disease molecular profiling to support treatment selection by comparing multi-target biomarker results to a database and producing a patient profile report of suitable therapeutic agents.
Use of reference databases and biomarker-to-agent/resistance rules tables for identifying therapeutic agents based on biomarker states and likely benefit indications.
