Abstract

Automated processing and radiomic analysis of magnetic resonance imaging (“MRI”), such as multi-contrast MR images, and magnetic resonance fingerprinting (“MRF”) data, such as quantitative parameter maps, are integrated into a single workflow.

Core Innovation

A computer-implemented method generates radiomic feature data from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data and magnetic resonance fingerprinting (MRF) data that comprise quantitative parameter maps. The method accesses MRI data acquired from a subject with an MRI system and accesses MRF data acquired from the subject, with the MRF data including quantitative parameter maps.

The method preprocesses the MRI data and the MRF data with the computer system, and performs an integrated radiomic analysis on the preprocessed MRI data and the preprocessed MRF data to generate output as radiomic feature data. The integrated radiomic analysis extracts radiomic features from coregistered MRI and MRF data within regions-of-interest.

The radiomic features comprise at least shape features, first-order statistical features, and second-order statistical features computed from the quantitative parameter maps of the MRF data. The method generates a report based on the radiomic feature data using the computer system.

Claims Coverage

The independent claim is directed to generating radiomic feature data from MRI data and MRF quantitative parameter maps using preprocessing, integrated radiomic analysis on coregistered regions-of-interest, and report generation. The inventive features specifically include extracting shape, first-order, and second-order radiomic features from coregistered MRI and MRF data within regions-of-interest, where the second-order and report are generated from the MRF quantitative parameter maps.

Integrated radiomic analysis of coregistered MRI and MRF regions-of-interest

The method performs an integrated radiomic analysis on preprocessed MRI data and preprocessed MRF data to generate radiomic feature data, where the integrated radiomic analysis extracts radiomic features from coregistered MRI and MRF data within regions-of-interest.

Radiomic feature set from MRF quantitative parameter maps

The radiomic features comprise at least shape features, first-order statistical features, and second-order statistical features computed from the quantitative parameter maps of the MRF data.

Report generation based on radiomic feature data

The method generating a report based on the radiomic feature data using the computer system.

Across the independent claim, radiomic feature data are generated by preprocessing MRI and MRF data, performing integrated radiomic analysis on coregistered regions-of-interest, extracting shape, first-order, and second-order features computed from MRF quantitative parameter maps, and generating a report based on the radiomic feature data.

Stated Advantages

Automation compared to conventional qualitative MRI.

Improved reproducibility.

Easier adoption of MRF in a clinical workflow.

Documented Applications

An example study workflow that includes normalization/registration choices using normalized mutual information (NMI) and ROI segmentation from MRF maps, including peritumoral white matter (PW).
