Abstract
The invention provides to a powdered composition of additives and a method of use thereof for increasing the visibility, potency and coverage of disinfectant solutions, such as bleach.
Core Innovation
Disclosed is a method for increasing the visibility of a disinfectant solution applied to a surface or an object. The method includes mixing an amount of a colorant-containing solid or liquid composition with a disinfectant solution immediately prior to use, such that the disinfectant solution becomes colored. The colored disinfectant solution is applied to the surface or object as a spray or film, so the color clearly marks where the spray or film has or has not been applied.
After application, the color of the disinfectant solution fades to clear within a period of time. The disclosed approach is directed to improving visibility of disinfectant coverage while avoiding persistent staining by having the color disappear after the pre-selected time period. The fade-to-clear behavior is described in terms of specified time periods and ranges for when the coloration becomes clear.
Also disclosed is a method for disinfecting a surface or an object using a similar immediate-prior-to-use mixing approach. A colorant-containing solid or liquid composition is mixed with a disinfectant solution immediately prior to use, applied as a spray or film, and used so that the color marks coverage after application. The disinfectant solution may be an aqueous bleach solution or may contain one or more selected disinfectants.
Claims Coverage
The document contains two independent claims, each covering immediate mixing of a colorant-containing composition with a disinfectant solution to provide visible coverage that fades to clear after application.
Immediate mixing of a colorant composition with a disinfectant solution prior to use for visible marking
Mixing an amount of a solid or liquid composition comprising a colorant with a disinfectant solution immediately prior to use, wherein the amount is sufficient to color the disinfectant solution, and applying the colored disinfectant solution to the surface or object as a spray or film so the color clearly marks where it has or has not been applied.
Fading to clear within a period of time after application
Ensuring that, after application to the surface or object, the color of the disinfectant solution fades to clear within a period of time.
Applying the method as a spray or film that provides marked coverage
Applying the colored disinfectant solution to the surface or object as a spray or film, wherein the color clearly marks where the spray or film has or has not been applied to the surface or object.
Disinfecting a surface or object using the colored, fading disinfectant
Disinfecting a surface or an object by mixing an amount of a solid or liquid composition comprising a colorant with a disinfectant solution immediately prior to use, coloring the disinfectant solution, applying it as a spray or film, and fading the color to clear within a period of time.
Across the independent claims, the inventive coverage centers on mixing a colorant-containing solid or liquid with a disinfectant solution immediately prior to use, applying the colored disinfectant as a spray or film for clear coverage marking, and having the color fade to clear within a defined period of time.
Stated Advantages
Improves visibility of where the disinfectant spray or film has or has not been applied.
Provides color that fades to clear within a period of time.
Avoids persistent coloration by fading to clear after application.
Documented Applications
Disinfecting a surface or an object using a colored disinfectant solution that clearly marks coverage and fades to clear within a period of time.
