Abstract

A biological parameter monitoring system is provided that includes a medical monitoring device that measures and generates a biological signal representative blood pressure, eye pressure, heart rate, temperature, oxygen, blood gas, chemical compounds, drugs, analytes, glucose, oxygen saturation, or blood components. The system also includes a household appliance that communicates with the medical monitoring device, and includes a display that displays customary information and an indicator representative of the signal generated by the medical monitoring device.

Core Innovation

The invention relates to a biological parameter monitoring system comprising a medical monitoring device and a household appliance configured to communicate with the medical monitoring device. The medical monitoring device measures and generates a signal representative of at least one of blood pressure, eye pressure, heart rate, temperature, oxygen, blood gas, chemical compounds, drugs, analytes, glucose, oxygen saturation, and blood components, and transmits information indicative of a health status of a patient via a probe having a rod or pen-like shape. The household appliance includes a display that displays customary information and an indicator representative of the signal generated by the medical monitoring device.

The household appliance includes a gauge comprising a high temperature limit indicator configured to represent an upper temperature limit and a low limit indicator configured to represent a lower temperature limit. The gauge further includes a high limit set switch and a low limit set switch, together with a temperature indicator. The probe is removably connected to the household appliance, enabling the measured health-related signal to be reflected on the appliance display through the gauge indicators.

In the disclosed monitoring ecosystem, an ABTT temperature sensor arrangement is described as part of measuring temperature using an ABTT terminus on the skin over the superior medial orbit/eyelid, characterized as fat-free thin-dermis/high-thermal-conductivity to enable reliable surface detection of brain/core thermal signals. The disclosure describes medical monitoring using skin temperature sensing with temperature sensing hardware, signal processing, and alarm thresholds, including sensor fault detection and temperature signal analyses such as frequency/slope/peak analysis for conditions including sleep.

The system also includes a modular interface system and a Medical Grade Household Appliances and Electronics (MGHAE) architecture in which the medical monitoring device communicates with and repurposes household appliance displays for measured values and limit indicators. In related embodiments, the medical monitoring device may notify a central location, and data transfer to a personal computer or other receiving device is described using encrypted data files and sequential or wireless transmission.

Claims Coverage

The provided independent claims cover a biological parameter monitoring system with shared core features and two gauge form factors. The claims include a medical monitoring device with a rod or pen-like removable probe, a household appliance display for customary information and a signal indicator, and temperature limit UI elements.

Rod or pen-like probe removably connected to household appliance

A medical monitoring device includes a probe having a rod or pen-like shape configured to transmit information to the household appliance indicative of a health status of a patient, wherein the probe is removably connected to the household appliance.

Medical monitoring device generating a health status signal for biological parameters

The medical monitoring device is configured to measure and generate a signal representative of at least one of blood pressure, eye pressure, heart rate, temperature, oxygen, blood gas, chemical compounds, drugs, analytes, glucose, oxygen saturation, and blood components.

Household appliance display showing customary information and an indicator of the generated signal

A household appliance is configured to communicate with the medical monitoring device, the household appliance including a display configured to display customary information and to display an indicator representative of the signal generated by the medical monitoring device.

Temperature gauge with upper/lower limit indicators and set switches

The household appliance includes a gauge comprising a high temperature limit indicator configured to represent an upper temperature limit, a low limit indicator configured to represent a lower temperature limit, a high limit set switch, a low limit set switch, and a temperature indicator.

Bar gauge version of the temperature gauge

The household appliance includes a bar gauge, comprising a high temperature limit indicator configured to represent an upper temperature limit, a low limit indicator configured to represent a lower temperature limit, a high limit set switch, a low limit set switch, and a temperature indicator.

Overall, the independent claims define a biological parameter monitoring system that combines a medical monitoring device with a removable rod/pen-like probe communicating to a household appliance for display of both customary information and an indicator representing a generated physiological or blood-related signal, together with a temperature interface having upper and lower limit indicators and corresponding limit set switches.
