Abstract

A power supply unit of an aerosol generating device includes: an accommodating portion with a bottom and cylindrical shape, which is configured to accommodate a columnar cartridge that stores an aerosol source in a state in which the cartridge is rotatable 360 degrees in a circumferential direction of the cartridge. A rotation suppressing portion configured to generate a frictional force between the cartridge and the rotation preventing portion so as to suppress rotation of the cartridge in the circumferential direction is provided on a bottom portion of the accommodating portion.

Core Innovation

The document describes a power supply unit of an aerosol generating device that includes an accommodating portion having a bottom and a cylindrical shape for accommodating a columnar cartridge storing an aerosol source. The cartridge is rotatable 360 degrees in a circumferential direction, and the accommodating portion allows the cavity to be shaped to allow this circumferential rotation. A rotation suppressing portion is provided on a bottom portion of the accommodating portion to suppress rotation of the columnar cartridge in the circumferential direction.

The rotation suppressing portion is implemented by an annular member along an outer periphery of the bottom portion. The annular member generates a frictional force between the columnar cartridge and the rotation suppressing portion so as to suppress rotation in the circumferential direction. The annular member is configured to inhibit circumferential rotation by generating frictional force against the cartridge.

A bottom-side rotation-suppressing portion implemented by a non-fixed flexible annular member generates friction to inhibit cartridge rotation. The annular member and its facing portions are described with uneven or textured surfaces, and the document further describes engagement recess/protrusion geometries between the annular member and the bottom of the accommodating portion to maintain energization regardless of cartridge rotational posture. The described structure includes a capillary collection gap for collecting liquid via capillary force.

Claims Coverage

The partial content identifies two independent claims that share a common anti-rotation concept using a bottom annular friction member, with additional structural refinements described in the dependent claims for flexibility, surface unevenness, and engagement recess/protrusion coupling; across the independents, two main inventive themes are covered.

Bottom-side annular friction member for suppressing 360-degree cartridge rotation

A power supply unit of an aerosol generating device with an accommodating portion that accommodates a columnar cartridge rotatable 360 degrees in a circumferential direction, and a rotation suppressing portion provided on a bottom portion of the accommodating portion to suppress circumferential rotation by generating frictional force, where the rotation suppressing portion is implemented by an annular member along an outer periphery of the bottom portion.

Cylindrical cavity allowing 360-degree rotation and annular friction member inhibiting circumferential rotation

A power supply configuration for an aerosol generating device that includes an accommodating portion having a bottom and a cylindrical shape with a cavity receiving a cartridge containing an aerosol source, where the cavity is shaped to allow 360-degree rotation of the cartridge, and an annular member located on the bottom configured to generate a frictional force against the cartridge to inhibit circumferential rotation by the cartridge.

Both independent claims cover power supply structures that accommodate a columnar cartridge allowing 360-degree circumferential rotation while using an annular member on the accommodating portion bottom to generate frictional force that suppresses or inhibits circumferential cartridge rotation.
