Abstract

Systems and methods for rendering a three-dimensional space scene, in a virtual space, that includes location of one or more sources of intangible attributes are described. An exemplar method includes: (i) obtaining an intangible attribute dataset; (ii) modifying the intangible attribute dataset to produce a source identifying dataset; (iii) identifying, based on the source identifying dataset and without using the image value dataset, one or more of different types of the intangible attribute sources that produce the intangible attributes present inside the real space, (iv) determining, based on the source identifying dataset and without using the imaging data, one or more locations and/or direction of locations of one or more of the intangible attribute sources; and (v) displaying and/or causing to display, in the virtual space defined inside a user interface of an AR/VR headset, one or more of the locations and/or direction of locations of one or more of the intangible attribute sources.

Core Innovation

The disclosed invention relates to determining location and/or direction of one or more sources of intangible attributes in real space using augmented reality and virtual reality (AR/VR) headsets displaced through the real space. The method obtains an intangible attribute dataset based on measurements from one or more non-imaging sensors at different instances in time and at one or more three-dimensional coordinates defining a region or location. The intangible attribute dataset includes the different instances in time, the three-dimensional coordinates of measurement, and properties measured, and does not include imaging data of the real space.

The invention modifies the intangible attribute dataset to produce a source identifying dataset that includes multiple types of information chosen from information regarding different instances in time of measurement, information regarding the three-dimensional coordinates of measurement, and information regarding the properties measured, and also does not include imaging data. Based on the source identifying dataset and without using imaging data, the invention identifies one or more different types of intangible attribute sources that produce the different types of intangible attributes present inside the real space.

The invention further determines, based on the source identifying dataset and without using imaging data, one or more locations and/or directions of locations of the different types of the intangible attribute sources. The identified locations and/or directions are displayed and/or caused to display in virtual space defined inside a user interface of one or more AR/VR headsets, and system forms obtain an image value dataset but do not use the image value dataset for identification or location determination.

Claims Coverage

The partial content includes multiple independent claims centered on non-imaging sensor-based source identification and localization. Across these claims, the inventive features concern obtaining an intangible-attribute dataset from AR/VR headsets, modifying it into a source identifying dataset, identifying source types without imaging data, determining locations/directions without using imaging data, and displaying the results in virtual space, with additional variations for unknown devices and system embodiments that also obtain an image value dataset.

Obtaining an intangible attribute dataset from AR/VR headsets using non-imaging sensors without imaging data

Obtain, for a real space, an intangible attribute dataset resulting from displacement in the real space of one or more AR/VR headsets, each equipped with or communicatively coupled to one or more non-imaging sensors measuring, at different instances in time and at one or more three-dimensional coordinates, one or more properties of one or more different types of intangible attributes present in the real space, where the intangible attribute dataset includes the different instances in time of measurement, the three-dimensional coordinates of measurement, the properties measured, and does not include imaging data of the real space.

Modifying the intangible attribute dataset into a source identifying dataset and identifying source types without imaging data

Modify the intangible attribute dataset to produce a source identifying dataset including multiple types of information chosen from information regarding the different instances in time of measurement, information regarding the three-dimensional coordinates of measurement, and information regarding the one or more properties measured, and not including the imaging data; then identify, based on the source identifying dataset and without using the imaging data, one or more different types of intangible attribute sources that produce the one or more different types of intangible attributes present inside the real space.

Determining locations/directions without imaging data and displaying in AR/VR virtual space

Determine, based on the source identifying dataset and without using the imaging data, one or more locations and/or directions of locations of the one or more different types of the intangible attribute sources; and display and/or cause to display, in virtual space defined inside a user interface of the one or more AR/VR headsets, the locations and/or directions of the locations of the one or more different types of the intangible attribute sources and/or the one or more properties of the one or more different types of the intangible attributes.

Displacing AR/VR headsets to measure unknown devices via radio-signal frequency and/or strength without imaging data

Displace one or more AR/VR headsets within a three-dimensional space of a room, each equipped with or communicatively coupled to one or more non-imaging sensors that measure, at one or more three-dimensional coordinates, frequency and/or strength of radio signals transmitted by one or more unknown devices present in a real space of the room.

Producing a source identifying dataset using spatial frequency patterns and/or temporal frequency patterns and identifying unknown devices without imaging data

Obtain an unknown device dataset resulting from the displacing of the AR/VR headsets, not including imaging data; modify the unknown device dataset to produce a source identifying dataset that includes multiple types of information chosen from information regarding the different instances in time of measurement, information regarding the three-dimensional coordinates of measurement and one or more temporal frequency patterns and/or one or more spatial frequency patterns associated with the frequency and/or the strength of the radio signals, and does not include imaging data; identify, based on the spatial frequency patterns and/or temporal frequency patterns and without using the imaging data, the unknown devices that transmit the radio signals inside the real space of the room.

Determining unknown device locations/directions and rendering a revealing three-dimensional spatialized environment

Determine, using the source identifying dataset and without using the imaging data, one or more locations and/or directions of locations of the one or more unknown devices; obtain an image value dataset conveying image-related information of the real space including one or more three-dimensional coordinates; spatialize the image value dataset and spatialize the source identifying dataset using a spatialized model to create a spatialized radio-signal dataset; align the spatialized image value dataset with the spatialized radio-signal dataset to create a revealing three-dimensional spatialized environment; and display and/or cause to display, using a rendering engine and in a virtual space inside a user interface of the one or more AR/VR headsets, the revealing three-dimensional spatialized environment identifying the one or more locations and/or directions of the one or more unknown devices.

System with non-imaging sensors and imaging system where identification is without using the image value dataset

Provide a system comprising one or more non-imaging sensors and an imaging system for obtaining an image value dataset that includes imaging data; and a processor programmed to obtain the intangible attribute dataset, modify it to produce a source identifying dataset, identify the different types of intangible attribute sources based on the source identifying dataset without using the image value dataset, determine the locations and/or directions based on the source identifying dataset without using the image value dataset, and display and/or cause to display the locations and/or directions in a virtual space defined inside a user interface of an AR/VR headset.

Multi-AR/VR-headset system with central processor, spatializing and aligning revealing three-dimensional environment

Provide multiple AR/VR headsets each comprising a non-imaging sensor for producing an intangible attribute dataset and an imaging sensor for obtaining an image value dataset with three-dimensional coordinates; and a central processor coupled to the multiple AR/VR headsets, programmed to obtain the intangible attribute dataset, modify it to produce a source identifying dataset, identify different types of intangible attribute sources based on the source identifying dataset without using the image value dataset, determine locations and/or directions based on the source identifying dataset without using the image value dataset, and display and/or cause to display the locations and/or directions in a virtual space defined inside a user interface of at least one of the multiple AR/VR headsets.

The independent claims repeatedly center on creating a source identifying dataset from non-imaging sensor measurements gathered by AR/VR headsets at three-dimensional coordinates and different instances in time, identifying intangible attribute or unknown device source types, determining locations/directions without using imaging data, and displaying the resulting locations/directions in AR/VR virtual space. Additional variations include radio-signal frequency and/or strength with spatial and temporal frequency patterns, and system embodiments in which an image value dataset is obtained and spatialized but not used for source identification or location/direction determination.
