Abstract
The present specification discloses systems and computer implemented assessment methods including a system and method of assigning an individual to a group participating in a clinical study regarding a psychotic disorder, a system and method of determine whether and what type of psychotic disorder an individual may be suffering from; and a system and method of recommending a therapy to treat an individual with a psychotic disorder. All disclosed systems and computer implemented assessment methods use a non-invasive computational device-based test that uses a graphical user interface to measure a latent inhibition response of an individual to calculate a latent inhibition score and assess working memory. The latent inhibition score determines whether the individual exhibits an attenuated latent inhibition response, a normal latent inhibition response or an enhanced latent inhibition response.
Core Innovation
The invention provides a method of treating an individual subjected to a non-invasive computational device-based test for latent inhibition assessment. The individual performs the latent inhibition assessment using a computational device and a graphical user interface coupled thereto, with the latent inhibition assessment comprising a pre-exposure phase and a test phase.
During the pre-exposure phase, the individual is presented with directions to respond to stimuli in a defined manner, including at least one preexposed stimulus that is a pre-target stimulus and one or more neutral stimuli presented in a random order. During the test phase, the individual is presented with directions requiring the individual to anticipate the occurrence of a target stimulus while stimuli are presented that include the at least one preexposed stimulus, a non-preexposed stimulus, the target stimulus, and the one or more neutral stimuli.
The method records and analyzes the individual’s interaction with the graphical user interface by measuring a response time associated with each stimulus to determine a target anticipated response. Anticipatory response timing relative to the sum of the presentation time and interval time is used to indicate whether the individual anticipated the occurrence of the target stimulus.
A latent inhibition response is measured by calculating a latent inhibition score by modeling each target anticipated response in one or more statistical analyses within a computing environment executing in conjunction with at least one specifically configured processor. The calculated latent inhibition score is used to classify whether the individual exhibited an attenuated latent inhibition response, a normal latent inhibition response, or an enhanced latent inhibition response, and the classification is used in treating the individual. In certain embodiments, working memory is evaluated by classifying whether the individual exhibited a working memory deficit or no working memory deficit.
Claims Coverage
The provided partial content includes two independent claims: clm-00001 and clm-00010. Both independently cover a non-invasive computational device-based latent inhibition assessment followed by latent inhibition score calculation and treatment selection based on classification into attenuated, normal, or enhanced latent inhibition responses; clm-00010 additionally incorporates evaluating working memory and conditioning treatment on the working-memory classification.
Non-invasive latent inhibition assessment with computational device and graphical user interface
Having the individual perform a latent inhibition assessment using the computational device and a graphical user interface coupled thereto, wherein the latent inhibition assessment comprises a pre-exposure phase and a test phase.
Target anticipated response determination from response time
Recording and analyzing the individual's interaction with the graphical user interface by measuring a response time associated with each stimulus to determine a target anticipated response, with anticipatory response timing relative to the sum of the presentation time and interval time indicating anticipation of the target stimulus.
Latent inhibition score modeled from statistical analyses and classified response category
Calculating a latent inhibition score by modeling each target anticipated response in one or more statistical analyses comprising reaction times, numbers and/or percentages of anticipatory responses, and/or accuracy sensitivity d'.
Treatment selection based on latent inhibition classification
Using the calculated latent inhibition score to classify whether the individual exhibited an attenuated latent inhibition response, a normal latent inhibition response, or an enhanced latent inhibition response, and treating the individual based on the classification.
Working memory evaluation and conditional treatment
Evaluating working memory by classifying whether the individual exhibited a working memory deficit or no working memory deficit, and treating the individual based on the latent inhibition classification and the working-memory classification.
Across clm-00001 and clm-00010, the independent claim coverage centers on a non-invasive computational device-based latent inhibition assessment with a graphical user interface, response-time-based determination of target anticipated responses, calculation of a latent inhibition score using statistical analyses including reaction times, anticipatory-response counts/percentages, and/or accuracy sensitivity d', and classification into attenuated, normal, or enhanced latent inhibition responses for treatment selection. In clm-00010, treatment selection is further conditioned by evaluating working memory as deficit versus no deficit.
