Abstract

A blood purification device includes a blood circuit for extracorporeally circulating blood of a patient; a liquid supply circuit for supplying a supply liquid to the blood circuit or to a blood purifier provided on the blood circuit and a warmer provided on the liquid supply circuit to warm the supply liquid. The warmer is configured to sandwich and hold a warming circuit constituting a part of the liquid supply circuit. The warmer includes a heater provided on a sandwiching-and-holding surface sandwiching and holding the warming circuit. The warmer includes a heater temperature detection unit capable of detecting temperature of the heater. The warmer includes a temperature sensor for liquid temperature detection being capable of detecting temperature of the supply liquid flowing through the warming circuit and being provided on the sandwiching-and-holding surface at a position at which the temperature sensor for liquid temperature detection is separated from the heater and, when sandwiching and holding the warming circuit, comes into contact with the warming circuit on the downstream side of a portion warmed by the heater in a direction of sending liquid.

Core Innovation

The invention relates to a blood purification device that includes a blood circuit for extracorporeally circulating blood of a patient and a liquid supply circuit for supplying a supply liquid to the blood circuit or to a blood purifier provided on the blood circuit. A warmer provided on the liquid supply circuit warms the supply liquid by sandwiching and holding a warming circuit constituting a part of the liquid supply circuit, and includes a heater on a sandwiching-and-holding surface with a housing portion and a closing portion that covers the housing portion.

The warmer integrates a heater temperature detection unit and a temperature sensor for liquid temperature detection arranged on the sandwiching-and-holding surface. The temperature sensor is provided at a position separated from the heater and comes into contact with the warming circuit on a downstream side of a portion warmed by the heater in a direction of sending liquid when the warming circuit is sandwiched and held. The heater temperature detection unit, the heater, and the temperature sensor are provided in the closing portion, and thermal insulation members arrange the heater and space the temperature sensor away from the heater.

The heater control unit controls the temperature of the heater so that the temperature of the supply liquid detected by the temperature sensor becomes a preset set temperature. The heater control unit changes an upper limit temperature according to a treatment mode selected from plasma exchange therapy (PE), plasma adsorption (PA), double filtration plasmapheresis (DFPP), continuous hemodialysis (CHD), continuous hemofiltration (CHDF), or continuous hemofiltration (CHF). In PE, PA, and DFPP, the supply liquid contains protein components and the upper limit temperature is less than 46 degrees Celsius, whereas in CHD, CHDF, and CHF, the supply liquid does not contain protein components and the upper limit temperature is not less than 46 degrees Celsius.

Claims Coverage

The independent claims cover four inventive features: a warmer-integrated blood purification device with set temperature control and mode-dependent heater upper-limit control, a separated heater and liquid temperature sensor on a sandwiching-and-holding surface, a heater and sensor arrangement within a closing portion with thermal insulation, and a warmer attachment detection unit based on heater temperature and supply-liquid temperature.

Mode-dependent heater upper limit temperature for supply liquid set temperature control

Controls the temperature of the heater so that the temperature of the supply liquid detected by the temperature sensor for liquid temperature detection becomes a preset set temperature, and changes an upper limit temperature according to a treatment mode among PE, PA, DFPP, CHD, CHDF, and CHF, with an upper limit temperature less than 46 degrees Celsius for PE, PA, and DFPP where the supply liquid contains protein components and an upper limit temperature not less than 46 degrees Celsius for CHD, CHDF, and CHF where the supply liquid does not contain protein components.

Sandwich-and-hold warmer with separated heater and liquid temperature sensor

Configures the warmer to sandwich and hold a warming circuit on a sandwiching-and-holding surface, with a heater provided on the sandwiching-and-holding surface and a temperature sensor for liquid temperature detection provided on the sandwiching-and-holding surface at a position separated from the heater and contacting the warming circuit on a downstream side of a portion warmed by the heater only when the warming circuit is sandwiched and held.

Heater and liquid sensor arrangement within closing portion with thermal insulation

Provides the heater, the heater temperature detection unit, and the temperature sensor for liquid temperature detection in the closing portion, and includes a closing portion having a thermal insulation member that arranges the heater in the thermal insulation member and positions the temperature sensor for liquid temperature detection away from the heater by the thermal insulation member.

Warmer attachment detection unit based on heater and supply-liquid temperatures

Provides a warmer attachment detection unit for detecting whether or not the warming circuit is attached to the warmer, where the warmer attachment detection unit detects based on a temperature of the heater detected by the heater temperature detection unit and a temperature of the supply liquid detected by the temperature sensor for liquid temperature detection.

Overall, the claims focus on a blood purification device whose warmer sandwiches and holds a warming circuit while separately detecting heater temperature and supply-liquid temperature, using the detected supply-liquid temperature to control toward a preset set temperature. The device further modifies heater temperature upper limits according to treatment mode and protein-component presence or absence, and includes an attachment detection unit that determines whether the warming circuit is attached based on heater temperature and supply-liquid temperature.

Stated Advantages

Prevents coagulation and hemolysis risks by changing the heater upper limit temperature according to whether the supply liquid contains protein components.

Documented Applications

Used for treatment modes including plasma exchange therapy (PE), plasma adsorption (PA), double filtration plasmapheresis (DFPP), continuous hemodialysis (CHD), continuous hemofiltration (CHDF), and continuous hemofiltration (CHF).
