Abstract
Methods and systems for X-ray and fluoroscopic image capture and, in particular, to a versatile, multimode imaging system incorporating a handheld X-ray emitter operative to capture non-invasive images of a target; a stage operative to capture static X-ray and dynamic fluoroscopic images of the target; a system for the tracking and positioning of the X-ray emission to improve safety of obtaining X-ray images as well as improve the quality of X-ray images. Where the devices can automatically limit the field of the X-ray emission.
Core Innovation
The invention provides a non-invasive imaging system for confirming placement of an object positioned in an examination area. The system uses a non-invasive imaging sensor having a detecting perimeter configured to receive emission energy, so a non-invasive image of the object is generated when the object is positioned on or adjacent to the non-invasive imaging sensor. An emitting apparatus includes an aperture opening that emits the emission energy in an emission profile.
The system further includes one or more electromagnetic tracking implements fixedly positioned relative to the non-invasive imaging sensor. The emitting apparatus includes a position tracking apparatus configured to produce a positioning signal by detecting the electromagnetic tracking implements, and a camera system configured to produce an image signal. A display receives the image signal to produce a real-time image having a point of view from the aperture opening.
A control system converts the positioning signal into a plurality of positioning data of the emitting apparatus relative to the non-invasive imaging sensor. The control system uses the positioning signal to generate a first virtual image of the detecting perimeter and a second virtual image of the emission profile. The control system displays the first virtual image and the second virtual image together with the real-time image on the display.
Claims Coverage
The independent claim is directed to a non-invasive imaging system that confirms object placement using an imaging sensor with a detecting perimeter, electromagnetic tracking fixed relative to the sensor, and an emitting apparatus whose aperture point of view is combined with virtual overlays of the detecting perimeter and the emission profile. The claim includes one independent inventive combination and other dependently specified refinements.
Real-time aperture point-of-view imaging with non-invasive detecting perimeter
A non-invasive imaging sensor having a detecting perimeter configured to receive an emission energy for generating a non-invasive image of the object when positioned on or adjacent to the non-invasive imaging sensor, and a display configured to receive an image signal to produce a real-time image having a point of view from an aperture opening.
Fixed electromagnetic tracking relative to the sensor producing positioning data
One or more electromagnetic tracking implements fixedly positioned relative to the non-invasive imaging sensor, and a position tracking apparatus in the emitting apparatus configured to produce a positioning signal upon detecting the one or more electromagnetic tracking implements.
Virtual overlay of detecting perimeter and emission profile displayed with the real-time image
A control system configured to convert the positioning signal into a plurality of positioning data of the emitting apparatus relative to the non-invasive imaging sensor, further configured to use the positioning signal to generate a first virtual image of the detecting perimeter and a second virtual image of the emission profile, and display the first virtual image and the second virtual image with the real-time image on the display.
Across the independent claim, the core coverage is the combination of an emission-aperture imaging real-time point of view with electromagnetic tracking converted to positioning data, and the generation/display of virtual images corresponding to the sensor detecting perimeter and the emitting emission profile overlaid with the real-time image.
