Abstract
A telemedicine system can include a telemedicine management system configured to be wirelessly coupled to a portable medical device. The portable medical device can include at least one camera operably coupled to a main body. The portable medical device can be configured to transmit video data from the at least one camera to the telemedicine management system. The telemedicine management system can be configured to share the video data through a videoconference.
Core Innovation
The invention describes a portable telemedicine device for home or emergency use, with cameras at opposite ends of a main body. A first camera has a fixed-magnification otoscopic lens for ear examination, while a second camera has an adjustable video scope for throat and nose examination. The device also includes camera controls, lighting, and detachable accessories, including a tongue depressor and an extended mirror.
An electronic system captures and transmits camera video, infrared and thermal data, and body-temperature data to a user device. A telemedicine management system establishes a streaming connection, decodes and shares device video in a remote videoconference. The partial content does not include the background section, so the problem being solved is not explicitly described.
Claims Coverage
The claims identify three independent claims: claims 1, 11, and 14. They cover a portable medical device, an electronic system for a portable medical device, and a portable medical kit.
Portable medical device with cameras at opposite ends
Claim 1 recites a main body extending from a first end to a second end, a first camera at the first end with an otoscopic lens of fixed magnification for facilitating examination of an ear, and a second camera at the second end with a video scope for adjustable magnification and facilitating examination of a throat.
Electronic system for a portable medical device
Claim 11 recites a transistor circuit with first and second power rails configured to determine a user's body temperature; first and second image sensors; an infrared sensor positioned proximal to the second image sensor and distal to the first; a transmitter and controller; and a shared frame buffer and pass through electrically disposed between the controller and each image sensor.
Portable medical kit with an extended mirror and detachable component
Claim 14 recites a portable medical device with a main body, a first camera with an otoscopic lens for facilitating examination of an ear, a second camera with a video scope for facilitating examination of a throat, and a first control button configured to control a parameter of the first camera. The kit also includes an extended mirror and a detachable component, each configured to detachably couple to the main body.
The independent claims cover the opposed-camera medical device, its image, temperature-sensing, and transmission system, and a medical kit incorporating the device with detachable accessories.
Stated Advantages
Not explicitly described in patent.
Documented Applications
