Abstract
A device for reconstituting a bioactive agent and forming a flowable paste is described. The device comprises a base configured for receiving: a first container containing a liquid, and a second container containing the bioactive agent, a syringe containing a paste forming material, the syringe being attachable to the base, wherein the base has a first conduit for fluidly connecting the first container with the second container and a second conduit for fluidly connecting the second container with the syringe, and wherein the first container is configured to be pressurizable such that when the first and second containers are received at the base, the liquid is forced through the first conduit into the second container, thereby reconstituting the bioactive agent, and the reconstituted bioactive agent is forced through the second conduit into the syringe, such that a paste is formed.
Core Innovation
The invention relates to a device and a method for reconstituting a bioactive agent and forming a paste using a first container containing a liquid, a second container containing the bioactive agent, and a syringe containing a paste forming material. The base provides a fluid pathway via a first conduit fluidly connecting the first container with the second container and a second conduit fluidly connecting the second container with the syringe.
Application of pressure to the liquid in the first container forces the liquid through the first conduit into the second container, thereby reconstituting the bioactive agent. The same applied pressure then forces the reconstituted bioactive agent through the second conduit into the syringe such that a paste is formed in the syringe.
In the device, the first container is pressurized by compression. The overall arrangement supports reconstituting the bioactive agent and forming the paste through conduit-based fluid transfer between the first container, the second container, and the syringe.
Claims Coverage
Two independent claims are identified: one directed to a device and one directed to a method. The inventive features center on conduit-mediated reconstitution of a bioactive agent in a second container, followed by pressure-driven transfer into a syringe containing paste-forming material to form a paste, with the device including compression-based pressurization of the first container.
Conduit-mediated reconstitution and syringe paste formation
A base with a first conduit and a second conduit such that pressure applied to liquid in a first container forces the liquid through the first conduit into a second container to reconstitute the bioactive agent, and forces the reconstituted bioactive agent through the second conduit into a syringe containing paste forming material such that a paste is formed.
Compression pressurization of the first container
The first container is pressurized by compression so that application of pressure drives the liquid from the first container through the first conduit and then drives the reconstituted bioactive agent through the second conduit into the syringe for paste formation.
Pressure-driven method for reconstituting and forming a paste
Providing a first container with a liquid and a second container with the bioactive agent, providing a syringe with paste forming material, fluidly connecting the first container with the second container and the second container with the syringe, and applying pressure to the liquid in the first container so the liquid is forced into the second container to reconstitute the bioactive agent and so the reconstituted bioactive agent is forced into the syringe such that a paste is formed.
Across the independent claims, the core inventive concept is applying pressure to drive liquid from a first container into a second container for reconstituting a bioactive agent, and then driving the reconstituted agent into a syringe containing paste forming material to form a paste. The device claim additionally specifies that the first container is pressurized by compression.
