Abstract
A monitoring system for obtaining a video related to medication adherence of a user, includes: a wireless communication device comprising a motion sensor, an ambient light sensor, a first transceiver transmitting data to an external device, and a first controller configured to control the motion sensor, the ambient light sensor, and the first transceiver, the wireless communication device having an attaching portion for being attached to an object containing a medication; and a wearable device including a camera, a second transceiver receiving a signal from the first transceiver, and a second controller configured to obtain video data through the camera based on the signal received through the second transceiver.
Core Innovation
The invention relates to monitoring medication adherence of a user using a wearable device and an external electronic device or a wireless communication device. The wearable device includes a camera and a first processor coupled to a first communication circuit, and the external device includes memory, a second communication circuit, and a second processor coupled to the memory. Image data obtained using the camera from the wearable device is transmitted using the communication circuits for medication adherence determination.
The camera is activated based on activation data received from the external device in communication with the wearable device. The activation data is generated based on an ambient value and a motion value obtained using the external device or wireless communication device. The external device inputs the image data into a medication adherence detection model to obtain information related to a medication adherence for a specific medication.
The medication adherence information comprises first information related to a time point of adherence of the specific medication and second information related to an instruction of the specific medication. Using the time point and the instruction-based time period, the wearable processor determines duplicate medication adherence when another time period between adherence time points is less than the time period described in the instruction, and provides a duplicate medication adherence notification or duplicate medication warning notification.
The medication adherence detection model may be implemented using an artificial neural network that outputs an indicative medication adherence value based on object-related and motion-related information extracted from each frame of the image data.
Claims Coverage
The partial content provides three independent claims. Across these independent claims, the main inventive features concern camera activation using activation data generated from ambient and motion values, medication adherence determination using image data and a medication adherence detection model, and duplicate medication adherence detection based on adherence time points compared to instruction-described time periods, with notifications or warnings.
Medication adherence monitoring using wearable and external device image processing
A system comprising a wearable device and an external electronic device, where the external electronic device receives image data obtained using the camera from the wearable device, and obtains information related to a medication adherence for a specific medication of the user based on the image data input into a medication adherence detection model.
Camera activation based on activation data generated from ambient and motion values
The camera is activated based on activation data received from the external device in communication with the wearable device, wherein the activation data is generated based on an ambient value and a motion value obtained using the external device or wireless communication device.
Duplicate medication adherence determination using adherence time points and instruction time period
The wearable device determines duplicate medication adherence based on first information related to a time point of adherence and second information related to an instruction of the specific medication, where another time period between adherence time points is less than a time period described in the instruction, and provides a duplicate medication adherence notification or duplicate medication warning notification when duplicate medication adherence is determined.
Artificial neural network medication adherence detection using per-frame object and motion
A medication adherence detection model implemented with an artificial neural network outputs an indicative medication adherence value using object related to the medication adherence and motion related to the medication adherence extracted from each frame of the image data.
Method of operation transmitting image data and determining duplicate medication adherence
A method where a wearable device transmits image data indicating medication adherence of a specific medication to an external electronic device, the camera is activated based on activation data received from the external device, the external electronic device provides first information related to a time point of medication adherence and second information related to an instruction, and duplicate medication adherence is determined and a duplicate medication warning notification is provided when the duplicate condition is met.
Across the independent claims, medication adherence monitoring is performed by activating a wearable camera using activation data derived from ambient and motion values, determining medication adherence from camera image data using a medication adherence detection model, and detecting duplicate medication adherence by comparing adherence time points against an instruction-described time period, followed by a duplicate adherence notification or duplicate warning.
Stated Advantages
Provides a duplicate medication adherence notification or duplicate medication warning notification when the user is determined to perform duplicate medication adherence.
Documented Applications
Monitoring medication adherence of a user using a wearable device and an external electronic device.
Duplicate medication adherence detection and issuing a duplicate medication adherence notification or duplicate medication warning notification.
