Abstract
The present invention relates to a composition for an organic optoelectronic device, the composition comprising: a first host compound represented by Chemical Formula 1 below; and a second host compound represented by Chemical Formula 2 below, to an organic optoelectronic device using the composition and a display device. The details of Chemical Formulas 1 and 2 above are as defined in the specification.
Core Innovation
A composition for an organic optoelectronic device includes a first host compound of Group 3 and a second host compound represented by Chemical Formula 2. Chemical Formula 2 is defined by selections of Y1 and Y2, Z1 and Z2, R4 to R9, and an integer m of 0 to 2, and “substituted” refers to replacement of at least one hydrogen by deuterium, a C1 to C4 alkyl group, a C6 to C18 aryl group, or a C2 to C30 heteroaryl group.
The first host compound includes an N-containing hexagonal ring that yields lower LUMO and is associated with improved electron injection and inhibition of crystallization. Pairing with a second host having relatively high hole characteristics is described as balancing charges in the light-emitting layer, thereby enabling high efficiency and long lifetime.
The device architecture includes an anode and a cathode facing each other and at least one organic layer containing the composition. The composition is described in the context of a light emitting layer and auxiliary layers, and a display device includes the organic optoelectronic device.
Claims Coverage
The independent claims cover two inventive features: a two-host composition and an organic optoelectronic device architecture that incorporates that composition. The claim set also includes a display device including the organic optoelectronic device.
Composition of a Group 3 host and Chemical Formula 2 host
A composition for an organic optoelectronic device comprising a first host compound of Group 3 and a second host compound represented by Chemical Formula 2, wherein Y1 and Y2, Z1 and Z2, R4 to R9, and m are defined and “substituted” refers to replacement of at least one hydrogen by deuterium, a C1 to C4 alkyl group, a C6 to C18 aryl group, or a C2 to C30 heteroaryl group.
Organic optoelectronic device with anode/cathode and organic layer containing the composition
An organic optoelectronic device comprising an anode and a cathode facing each other, with at least one organic layer between them, where the organic layer includes the composition.
Display device including the organic optoelectronic device
A display device including the organic optoelectronic device.
Overall, the claim coverage centers on a two-host composition defined by Chemical Formula 2 and a device architecture that places the composition in an organic layer between an anode and a cathode, with extension to a display device.
Stated Advantages
High efficiency.
Long lifetime (long life-span).
Improved electron injection.
Inhibition of crystallization.
Charge balancing in the light-emitting layer.
Uniform/stable thin film characteristics.
Documented Applications
An organic optoelectronic device including an anode and a cathode facing each other and at least one organic layer containing the composition.
A display device including the organic optoelectronic device.
