Abstract

A clip for attaching a flexible cable or tube to clothing. The clip comprises a body and a clasp for attaching the body of the clip to clothing. The body comprises at least one receiving formation in the form of a resiliently deformable channel for receiving a flexible cable or tube.

Core Innovation

The invention relates to a device for securing a catheter to a garment on a patient. The device includes a garment facing side and a non-garment facing side opposite the garment facing side, and a body with a surface along the non-garment facing side.

A flexible tab is provided with a garment facing side, a non-garment facing side opposite the garment facing side, and a surface along the non-garment facing side. A resiliently deformable channel is disposed at the non-garment facing side and configured to releasably secure the catheter, the channel being disposed between the body and the tab and having an opening at the non-garment facing side defined by adjacent edges of the body and tab surfaces, where the opening is substantially planar with the body and tab surfaces.

The tab is resiliently maneuverable to increase or decrease a cross-sectional dimension of the channel to release or secure the catheter, respectively. In a further configuration, the channel has a first configuration with a first cross-sectional dimension configured to restrain the catheter, and a second configuration with a second cross-sectional dimension different from the first that allows insertion and removal of the catheter. The clasp is disposed on the garment facing side and includes a piercing member and a cover for receiving the piercing member, with the cover permanently coupled to the body.

Claims Coverage

The independent claims are clm-00001 and clm-00008, each describing a catheter-securing garment clip with a resiliently deformable, tab-manipulated channel and a garment-attaching clasp using a piercing member and a permanently coupled cover. Across the two independent claims, the core inventive features include the planar channel opening between a body and a flexible tab, tab-responsiveness that changes channel cross-sectional dimensions to secure or release, and a clasp structure with a permanently coupled cover and piercing member orientation relative to the garment-facing side when secured.

Tab-manipulated resiliently deformable channel with planar opening

A resiliently deformable channel disposed at the non-garment facing side, configured to releasably secure the catheter, disposed between the body and the tab and having an opening at the non-garment facing side defined by adjacent edges of the body and tab surfaces and being substantially planar with the body and tab surfaces.

Resiliently maneuverable tab to change channel cross-sectional dimensions for release or insertion/removal

The tab is resiliently maneuverable to increase or decrease a cross-sectional dimension of the channel to release or secure the catheter, respectively; in a configuration where the channel has a first configuration restraining the catheter and a second configuration with a different cross-sectional dimension allowing insertion and removal of the catheter.

Garment-attaching clasp with piercing member and permanently coupled cover

A clasp disposed on the garment facing side configured to releasably secure the body to the garment, wherein the clasp comprises a piercing member and a cover for receiving the piercing member, the cover being permanently coupled to the body.

Piercing member axis substantially parallel to garment facing side when secured

At least when the device is secured to the garment, a longitudinal axis of the piercing member is substantially parallel to the garment facing side of the body.

The independent claims cover a garment clip in which a resiliently deformable channel between a body and a flexible tab has a substantially planar opening and changes channel cross-section when the tab is maneuvered to either release or secure the catheter, or to move between a restraining configuration and an insertion/removal configuration. The device further includes a clasp with a piercing member and a permanently coupled cover for releasably securing the body to the garment, including an orientation relationship where the piercing member axis is substantially parallel to the garment-facing side when secured.
