Abstract
Systems and methods for providing a customized exercise protocol to a computing device of a user. As the user performs the exercise protocol, one or more cameras of the computing device can track the user's movements. The user's movement are assessed to determine if proper form and technique is being used.
Core Innovation
The invention describes a fitness tracking computing system that receives video data from a computing device operated by a user. The computing device comprises a display and a camera, and the video data comprises images of the user collected by the camera along with metadata, including performance data of the camera and a screen resolution of the display. This metadata is used to support subsequent body tracking model adjustment and movement evaluation.
Based on the metadata, the fitness tracking computing system adjusts a setting of a body tracking model and causes a personalized movement instruction to be displayed on the display of the computing device. Subsequent to adjusting the setting of the body tracking model, the system analyzes the video data using the body tracking model to track real-time movements of the user and determine compliance with the personalized movement instruction. The system further causes visual feedback to be displayed on the display of the computing device.
The invention additionally uses web-based communications to receive the video data while the computing device executes a web browsing application. In this context, the system adjusts the body tracking model based on at least one of the performance data of the camera and the screen resolution of the display, and in at least one configuration causes a repetition counter to be displayed and advances the repetition counter only when the real-time movements are determined to comply.
The invention also includes determining an operational parameter of the computing device, adjusting the body tracking model based on the operational parameter, and analyzing the video data to track real-time movements to determine compliance with the personalized movement instruction. The visual feedback provides real-time range of motion feedback, and the system is described as generating movement profiles over time with reporting to practitioners and aggregation against global normative data, including cloud-based analytics and optional real-time video chat with practitioners.
Claims Coverage
The partial content includes three independent claims, each centered on adjusting a body tracking model using camera/display metadata or device operational characteristics, analyzing real-time movements to determine compliance with a personalized movement instruction, and displaying visual feedback. Across the independent claims, there are distinct inventive features including repetition counter advancement logic in one claim and operational-parameter-based model adjustment in another claim.
Metadata-based body tracking model adjustment with compliance determination
Receive video data from a computing device operated by the user, where the video data comprises metadata including performance data of the camera and a screen resolution of the display; based on the metadata, adjust a setting of a body tracking model; cause a personalized movement instruction to be displayed; subsequent to adjusting the setting of the body tracking model, analyze the video data using the body tracking model to track real-time movements to determine compliance with the personalized movement instruction; and cause visual feedback to be displayed.
Web-based communications with repetition counter advanced only upon compliance
Receive video data from a computing device via web-based communications where the computing device executes a web browsing application; based on the metadata, determine performance data of the camera and a screen resolution of the display; based on at least one of the performance data and the screen resolution, adjust a setting of a body tracking model; cause a personalized movement instruction to be displayed; subsequent to adjusting the setting, analyze the video data to track real-time movements; cause visual feedback to be displayed; cause a repetition counter to be displayed; and advance the repetition counter only when real-time movements are determined to comply with the personalized movement instruction.
Operational-parameter-based body tracking model adjustment with range of motion feedback
Receive video data from a computing device operated by the user, where the computing device comprises a display and a camera and the video data comprises images of the user collected by the camera; determine an operational parameter of the computing device; based on the operational parameter, adjust a setting of a body tracking model; cause a personalized movement instruction to be displayed; subsequent to adjusting the setting, analyze the video data using the body tracking model to track real-time movements to determine compliance with the personalized movement instruction; and cause visual feedback to be displayed, where the visual feedback provides real-time range of motion feedback.
Across the independent claims, the claims coverage centers on adjusting a body tracking model using device-related information, using the adjusted model to track real-time movements and determine compliance with a personalized movement instruction, and displaying visual feedback, with additional claim-specific emphasis on repetition counter advancement only when compliance is determined.
