Abstract

Described is a method and device for detecting a DTX state at a UCI receiver in a wireless communication system. The method comprises receiving a linear block encoded signal on an uplink at said UCI receiver and processing the received signal after resource element (RE) demapping to generate a soft bit sequence {right arrow over (s)}. The method includes selecting a plurality of bits in said generated soft bit sequence {right arrow over (s)} as comparison bits and comparing said selected comparison bits to corresponding bits in a reconstructed soft bit sequence {right arrow over (r)}. The reconstructed soft bit sequence {right arrow over (r)} is generated from a plurality of bits selected as reconstruction bits in said generated soft bit sequence {right arrow over (s)}. A comparison or correlation metric is determined between the comparison bits and the corresponding bits in the reconstructed soft bit sequence {right arrow over (r)}, and a determination is made of the occurrence of a DTX state by evaluating the determined comparison or correlation metric.

Core Innovation

The invention detects a full or partial discontinuous transmission state (DTX) at an uplink control information (UCI) receiver in a wireless communication system by receiving a linear block encoded signal on an uplink. The received signal is processed after resource element demapping to generate a soft bit sequence, and a plurality of bits in the soft bit sequence are selected as reconstruction bits.

From the reconstruction bits, reconstructed soft bits are generated to form a reconstructed soft bit sequence. A plurality of bits are selected as comparison bits such that the selected comparison bits and the selected reconstruction bits do not overlap, and the selected comparison bits are compared to corresponding bits in the reconstructed soft bit sequence.

A comparison or correlation metric is determined between the bits, and a full or partial DTX state is determined by evaluating the metric. The approach is contrasted with polar-code CRC-assisted detection, including situations where small-block code receivers lack CRC, and provides a receiver architecture based on correlation-based evaluation using the reconstructed soft bit sequence.

Claims Coverage

The partial content provides three independent claim(s): clm-00001, clm-00017, and clm-00018. Each independent claim covers detection of full or partial DTX at a UCI receiver using non-overlapping bit selections and evaluation of a comparison or correlation metric derived from reconstructed soft bit sequence processing.

Dtx detection using non-overlapping reconstruction and comparison bits with correlation metric evaluation

Receiving a linear block encoded signal on an uplink at the UCI receiver; processing after resource element demapping to generate a soft bit sequence; selecting reconstruction bits to generate a reconstructed soft bit sequence; selecting non-overlapping comparison bits; comparing the comparison bits to corresponding bits in the reconstructed soft bit sequence; determining a comparison or correlation metric; and determining if a full or partial DTX state has occurred by evaluating the determined metric.

Processing with verification and correlation metric from reconstructed soft bit sequence

Processing a linear block encoded signal at a UCI receiver by receiving it on an uplink; processing after resource element demapping to generate a soft bit sequence; selecting reconstruction bits to generate reconstructed soft bits forming a reconstructed soft bit sequence; selecting verification bits and comparing them to corresponding bits in the reconstructed soft bit sequence; selecting non-overlapping comparison bits relative to the reconstruction bits; comparing the comparison bits to corresponding bits in the reconstructed soft bit sequence; determining a comparison or correlation metric; and determining if a full or partial DTX state has occurred by evaluating the determined metric.

Uci receiver configured for reconstructed soft bit sequence correlation-based DTX determination

An uplink control information receiver comprising a memory storing machine-readable instructions and a processor that executes them to configure the UCI receiver to receive a linear block encoded signal on an uplink; process after resource element demapping to generate a soft bit sequence; select reconstruction bits and generate a reconstructed soft bit sequence; select comparison bits that do not overlap with the reconstruction bits; compare the selected comparison bits to corresponding reconstructed soft bit sequence bits; determine a comparison or correlation metric; and determine if a full or partial DTX state has occurred by evaluating the determined metric.

Across the independent claims, the coverage centers on reconstructing a reconstructed soft bit sequence from selected reconstruction bits, selecting non-overlapping comparison bits, and determining a comparison or correlation metric used to decide whether a full or partial DTX state has occurred at a UCI receiver.

Stated Advantages

Provides DTX detection using comparison/correlation metric evaluation at a UCI receiver.

Enables correlation-based DTX determination for scenarios where conventional polar-code CRC-assisted detection is contrasted, including small-block code receivers lacking CRC.
