Abstract

In one embodiment, a method to track cardiac health of a patient is described. The method includes communicating, via a mobile device, to a cardiac device worn by the patient, wherein the cardiac device includes at least one sensor. The method also includes receiving cardiac device data from the cardiac device and filtering the cardiac device data based at least in part on patient logic rules. The method includes pushing the cardiac device data to one or more personnel based at least in part on the patient logic rules.

Core Innovation

The disclosure describes a wearable cardiac monitoring system and method to track cardiac health of a patient using a cardiac device worn by the patient and at least one sensor. Cardiac device data is communicated to a mobile device, received, and processed to support patient-controlled access in a controlled downstream workflow.

The system filters cardiac device data based, at least in part, on patient logic rules, where the patient logic rules include rules to restrict and grant access to portions of the cardiac device data. The filtered cardiac device data is then pushed to one or more personnel based, at least in part, on the patient logic rules, so different personnel receive different portions of the cardiac device data according to those rules.

To implement controlled access and communications, the disclosure describes a care station server as a data/logic guardian with modules including a care station module, a medical logic module, a customer service logic module, and a CRM logic module. It also describes mobile assistant/companion modules with voice activation/control, and mirror assistant functionality tied to role and permission-based access for personnel. The disclosure further expands toward emergency event assistance by activating cameras upon emergency event detection, determining location, recording audio/video, and transmitting the recorded data to a remote location or third party.

Claims Coverage

Two independent claims are directed to methods for tracking a patient’s cardiac health. Both claims share the same core inventive workflow: communicating or establishing communication to a mobile device, receiving cardiac device data, filtering using patient logic rules that restrict and grant access to portions of the cardiac device data, and pushing the filtered data to one or more personnel based on those patient logic rules.

Communicating cardiac device data to a mobile device

communicating, via a mobile device, to a cardiac device worn by the patient, wherein the cardiac device includes at least one sensor; receiving cardiac device data from the cardiac device

Filtering cardiac device data using patient logic rules for access control

filtering the cardiac device data based, at least in part, on patient logic rules, wherein the patient logic rules comprise rules to restrict and grant access to portions of the cardiac device data

Pushing filtered cardiac device data to personnel based on patient logic rules

pushing the filtered cardiac device data to one or more personnel based, at least in part, on the patient logic rules

Establishing communication with a mobile device coupled to a proximate cardiac device

establishing communication with a mobile device coupled to a cardiac device proximate the patient, wherein the cardiac device includes at least one sensor; receiving cardiac device data from the mobile device

Filtering and pushing filtered data to personnel based on patient logic rules

filtering the cardiac device data based, at least in part, on patient logic rules, wherein the patient logic rules comprise rules to restrict and grant access to portions of the cardiac device data; pushing the filtered cardiac device data to one or more personnel based, at least in part, on the patient logic rules

The independent claims cover a patient-controlled cardiac data workflow in which cardiac sensor data reaches a mobile device, is filtered by patient logic rules that restrict and grant access to portions of the data, and is then pushed to personnel according to those same rules.

Stated Advantages

Enables restricting and granting access to portions of cardiac device data to different personnel based on patient logic rules.

Provides patient-controlled delivery of filtered cardiac device data to one or more personnel.

Supports privacy by removing patient identifying information to produce anonymous patient health data for recipients.

Provides health-alert notifications to one or more health care personnel with a health alert about the patient.

Documented Applications

Emergency event assistance using an autonomous visual event assistant (AVEA): activating cameras upon emergency event detection, determining location, recording audio/video, and transmitting recorded information to a remote location or third party.
