Abstract

The present inventive concept relates to an apparatus and a method for providing a treatment plan by measuring the severity of sleep apnea and causes thereof. According to an embodiment of the present inventive concept, a hypoventilation monitoring system may include a an EIT data processing unit configured to generate image data on the chest of a subject by measuring either current or voltage through a plurality of electrodes attached to the subject, a ventilation parameter calculation unit configured to calculate a ventilation parameter of the subject by analyzing an image change of the chest based on the generated image data, a hypoventilation determination unit configured to determine a hypoventilation condition by comparing the calculated ventilation parameter with a hypoventilation reference value, and a display control unit configured to control a display to display at least one of the generated image data, the calculated ventilation parameter, or the determined alarm information on the hypoventilation condition.

Core Innovation

The invention provides a hypoventilation monitoring system that measures electrical impedance tomography (EIT) data on a chest of a subject in real-time using a sensor box. The sensor box transmits the measured EIT data to a hypoventilation monitoring unit, where the monitoring unit monitors a hypoventilation condition of the subject using the received EIT data and displays the monitoring result for the hypoventilation condition.

Inside the hypoventilation monitoring unit, an EIT data processing unit detects ventilation condition information comprising an air distribution, volume change, or combinations thereof inside lungs from the EIT data. A ventilation parameter calculation unit calculates a ventilation parameter comprising tidal volume, minute ventilation, or respiratory rate by analyzing the detected ventilation condition information.

A hypoventilation determination unit determines a hypoventilation condition by comparing the calculated ventilation parameter with a hypoventilation reference value. The system includes a display control unit configured to control a display to display at least one of the calculated ventilation parameter or the monitoring result for the hypoventilation condition.

Claims Coverage

The independent claims are clm-00001 and clm-00009. Each claim includes five main inventive features: EIT acquisition and transmission, detection of ventilation condition information from EIT data, calculation of ventilation parameters, determination of hypoventilation by comparison to a hypoventilation reference value, and display control for the calculated ventilation parameter and/or monitoring result.

Real-time chest EIT measurement and transmission

A sensor box configured to measure an EIT data on a chest of a subject and transmit the measured EIT data in real-time.

Ventilation condition detection from EIT data

Detecting ventilation condition information comprising an air distribution, volume change, or combinations thereof inside lungs from the EIT data.

Ventilation parameter calculation from ventilation condition information

Calculating a ventilation parameter comprising tidal volume, minute ventilation, or respiratory rate by analyzing the detected ventilation condition information.

Hypoventilation determination by comparison to a reference value

Determining a hypoventilation condition by comparing the calculated ventilation parameter with a hypoventilation reference value.

Display control for ventilation parameter and/or monitoring result

Controlling a display to display at least one of the calculated ventilation parameter or the monitoring result for the hypoventilation condition.

Both independent claims center on using real-time EIT data from a sensor box to derive ventilation condition information, calculate ventilation parameters, determine hypoventilation by comparing to a hypoventilation reference value, and display the calculated ventilation parameter and/or the hypoventilation monitoring result.
