Abstract
An ambulatory medicament device can generate a dose control signal for delivery of medicament to a subject and secure at least some functionality of a user interface of the ambulatory medicament device. The ambulatory medicament device can have a locked state that restricts modification of at least one control parameter. The ambulatory medicament device can have an unlocked state that allows modification of at least one control parameter. The ambulatory medicament device can accept a user input of a security code that is validated against a passcode to enter from the locked state to the unlocked state.
Core Innovation
The invention relates to a glucose level control system configured to generate a dose output for administration of medicament to a subject while securing at least some functionality of a user interface. The system includes a display interface configured to output display signals for user interface screens and a hardware processor configured to execute instructions that generate the dose output using a control algorithm employing control parameters. At least one control parameter is modified by user interaction with a parameter control element, but modification is protected by a security process.
To secure modification of the control parameters, the system stores a user-generated passcode selected during a passcode-setting process and an override passcode that is not selected by the user. When a user interaction with a user input element associated with the protected parameter control element occurs, the system generates a passcode display of a keypad including user-selectable letters, numbers, symbols, or combinations thereof, configured to accept a security code. The system validates the security code by confirming that it matches either the user-generated passcode or the override passcode, and permits modification only in response to validation.
The system also defines access workflows that depend on whether the glucose level control system is locked or on authorization pathways. A request from a computing system over a direct end-to-end connection can be received to permit modification of the protected parameter control element, where the request includes a security input that is validated to confirm user authorization before modification is permitted.
Claims Coverage
The document includes four independent claim themes directed to secured user interface functionality for parameter modification, authorization via a security input received over a direct end-to-end connection, locked-state security, and a computer-implemented method performing the same security-validation workflow.
Securing parameter modification of a glucose level control system using a user-generated passcode and an override passcode
A glucose level control system generates a dose output using a control algorithm with control parameters modifiable via a parameter control element, determines the parameter control element is protected by a security process, generates a keypad passcode display to accept a security code, validates the security code by matching the user-generated passcode or the override passcode, and permits modification of the control parameter only in response to validation.
Authorizing parameter modification via a security input received over a direct end-to-end connection
A glucose level control system determines the parameter control element is protected by a security process, receives a request from a computing system over a direct end-to-end connection where the request includes a security input, validates the security input to confirm user authorization to modify the control parameter via the protected parameter control element, and permits the modification in response to validating the security input.
Locked-state security for permitting parameter modifications and secure UI access
A glucose level control system operates in a locked state with access to at least some functionality secured, generates a passcode display of a keypad in response to user interaction, validates a security code by matching the user-generated passcode or the override passcode, and permits modification of at least one control parameter via the parameter control element.
Securing UI functionality for permitting parameter modification in a computer-implemented method
A computer-implemented method by a hardware processor of a glucose level control system generates a dose output using a control algorithm employing control parameters, determines the parameter control element is protected by a security process, receives a request from a computing system over a direct end-to-end connection including a security input, validates the security input to confirm user authorization to modify the control parameter via the protected parameter control element, and permits the modification in response to validating the security input.
Across the independent claims, the core claim scope is directed to dose output generation with user-modifiable control parameters, combined with secured access to a parameter control element. Authorization is enforced by validating a security input, including a keypad-based security code matched to a user-generated passcode or an override passcode, either during user interaction or after receiving an authorization request over a direct end-to-end connection from a computing system.
Stated Advantages
Secures at least some functionality of a user interface of the glucose level control system while still permitting modification of control parameters only after authorization.
Permits modification of at least one control parameter via a parameter control element protected by a security process in response to validating a security code or security input.
Allows access to at least some functionality of the user interface without validating the security code.
Documented Applications
Administration of medicament to a subject using a glucose level control system that generates a dose output while securing user interface functionality for control parameter modification.
Authorization of parameter modification via a computing system request over a direct end-to-end connection using a security input.
Operation of a glucose level control system in a locked state where access to at least some functionality is secured while passcode validation and authorized modification are controlled.
