Abstract

A method for assisting a patient in physical rehabilitation, the method being executed by a controller, and the controller being configurable with at least one physical rehabilitation strategy and being communicatively connected with a respiratory device and an exercise device. The method includes controlling at least one of a device setting of the respiratory device and a device setting of the exercise device, based on a target physical rehabilitation strategy among the at least one physical rehabilitation strategy.

Core Innovation

The invention concerns assisting a person in physical exercise by executing a method with a controller configurable with at least one physical exercise strategy. The controller is communicatively connected with a respiratory device and an exercise device so that, based on a target physical exercise strategy among the physical exercise strategies, the controller controls at least one device setting of the respiratory device and/or the exercise device.

The method controls device settings using physiological parameters received for the person, in accordance with the target physical exercise strategy. Physiological parameters include heart rate with a target heart rate range and its upper limit, and SpO2 with a first preset threshold and a second preset threshold, and when the physiological parameters meet defined comparisons, the controller adjusts respiratory device settings and exercise device settings and outputs an alarm signal for the SpO2 second preset threshold condition.

The system further supports strategy selection and exercise control interactions, including selecting the target physical exercise strategy based on at least one user input representing an exercise decision. The controller also determines, based on authentication information received from the user, whether the user has authority to access at least one physical exercise strategy, and may output reminder signals at a strategy start time, stop exercise based on a stop instruction via a stop button or a remote terminal, and output exercise guidance via a display screen and/or a speaker.

Claims Coverage

The document includes three independent claims covering a method executed by a controller, a controller configured with processor and memory, and a system including the controller and connections to a respiratory device and an exercise device. The inventive features center on strategy-based device setting control and physiological-parameter-based control associated with a target physical exercise strategy.

Target physical exercise strategy based device setting control

A method executed by a controller configurable with at least one physical exercise strategy and communicatively connected with a respiratory device and an exercise device, wherein the method controls, based on a target physical exercise strategy among the at least one physical exercise strategy, at least one of a device setting of the respiratory device and a device setting of the exercise device.

Processor and memory controller for strategy-based setting control

A controller configurable with at least one physical exercise strategy and communicatively connected with a respiratory device and an exercise device, comprising at least one processor and a memory communicatively connected with the at least one processor, wherein the memory stores instructions executable by the at least one processor that cause the at least one processor to control at least one of a device setting of the respiratory device and a device setting of the exercise device, based on a target physical exercise strategy among the at least one physical exercise strategy.

System with strategy-based control of respiratory and exercise device settings

A system for assisting a person in physical exercise comprising a controller configurable with at least one physical exercise strategy and communicatively connected with a respiratory device and an exercise device, wherein the controller comprises at least one processor and a memory communicatively connected with the at least one processor, the memory stores instructions executable by the at least one processor, and the instructions cause the at least one processor to control at least one of a device setting of the respiratory device and a device setting of the exercise device, based on a target physical exercise strategy among the at least one physical exercise strategy.

All independent claims center on using a target physical exercise strategy to control at least one device setting of a respiratory device and/or an exercise device via a communicatively connected controller, implemented as a method, a controller with processor and memory, or a system including both devices.

Stated Advantages

Reduce medical worker workload.

Minimize mistakes.

Enable home/remote rehab.

Documented Applications

Pulmonary/physical rehabilitation, including for COPD and other chronic lung conditions, using the respiratory device and exercise device with a rehabilitation strategy selected by the controller.
