Abstract

Systems and methods of managing a plurality of patients undergoing titration using a management device. The method includes receiving, via a processor of a management device, a plurality of patient information from the plurality of patients, evaluating, via the processor of the management device, each patient based on patient information, determining, via the processor of the management device, a status of each patient, where the status is based on a progression of the titration based on titration assist parameters and determining, via the processor of the management device, a priority of each patient based on patient status. In some embodiments the method includes sorting that patients based on user input. In some embodiments, the plurality of patient information is received via remote communication with at least one of a programming device, an implantable medical device, or a home management device.

Core Innovation

The invention relates to a titration-assist management dashboard and a corresponding system or method for managing a plurality of patients who each have an implantable neurostimulator delivering neurostimulation comprising a plurality of stimulation parameters. The management device receives titration parameters for the plurality of patients during an initial interrogation of the implantable neurostimulator prior to each patient undergoing titration. The titration for a given patient includes incrementally increasing, based on the titration parameters, at least one of the stimulation parameters until reaching a final set of stimulation parameters, where the titration parameters define increment values for the incremental increases.

Based on the received titration parameters, the processor determines a status of the progression of the titration for each patient, and the status includes a current stimulation parameter for the given patient. The processor determines a priority for each patient based on the status of the progression of the titration, generates a user interface visually indicating the priority and the current stimulation parameter of each patient, and then determines an updated status including an updated stimulation parameter and an updated priority. The processor generates an updated user interface visually indicating the updated priority and updated stimulation parameter.

The invention further updates an intermediate titration hold associated with the titration parameters for a selected patient based on input received via the user interface, and transmits the update of the titration hold to the implantable neurostimulator of the selected patient. The processor is capable of determining the status and updated status while the given patient is undergoing titration without communicating with the implantable neurostimulator of the given patient.

Claims Coverage

Three independent claims are present: a method claim, a management device claim, and a non-transitory computer-readable medium claim. Across these independent claims, the inventive features center on receiving titration parameters during initial interrogation, determining progression status and priority for each patient, presenting this on a user interface, updating an intermediate titration hold based on user input, and transmitting the hold update to the selected patient’s implantable neurostimulator while determining status without direct implant communication.

Titration-parameter receipt and progression model

Receiving titration parameters for the plurality of patients during an initial interrogation of the implantable neurostimulator, wherein titration comprises incrementally increasing at least one stimulation parameter based on titration parameters until reaching a final set of stimulation parameters, and wherein the titration parameters define at least increment values for incrementally increasing the at least one stimulation parameter.

Progression status determination including a current stimulation parameter

Determining a status of a progression of the titration for each patient based on the titration parameters, wherein the status of the progression of the titration includes a current stimulation parameter for the given patient.

Per-patient priority determination and user interface visualization

Determining a priority of each patient based on the status of the progression of the titration for the given patient, generating a user interface visually indicating the priority and the current stimulation parameter of each patient, determining an updated status including an updated stimulation parameter, determining an updated priority, and generating an updated user interface visually indicating the updated priority and the updated stimulation parameter.

Intermediate titration hold update and transmission to the selected patient

Updating, based on input received via the user interface, a titration hold associated with the titration parameters for a selected patient, the titration hold being an intermediate hold point established during a setup of the titration, and transmitting the update of the titration hold to the implantable neurostimulator of the selected patient.

Status computation without direct implant communication during titration

The processor is capable of determining the status and the updated status while the given patient is undergoing the titration of the neurostimulation without communicating with the implantable neurostimulator of the given patient.

The independent claims jointly cover computing titration progression status (including current and updated stimulation parameters), deriving per-patient priority, displaying priority and stimulation parameter information via a user interface, updating an intermediate titration hold from user input, and transmitting the hold update to the selected patient’s implantable neurostimulator while determining status without communicating with that implant during titration.
