Abstract

Compositions and methods of using these compositions that can include a targeting moiety and a therapeutic agent are described herein. These compositions can be used for diagnosing and/or treating flaviviridae—family viruses including Zika virus, dengue virus, and yellow fever.

Core Innovation

The invention provides pharmaceutical compositions and methods for treating a disease caused by infection by a flaviviridae family virus. The methods administer to a subject in need thereof an effective amount of a compound of Formula (II) in which at least one R comprises a CD206 targeting moiety and at least one A comprises a chemotherapeutic agent.

The invention further provides methods of targeting flaviviridae family virus by targeting macrophages using a Formula (II) compound. By administering an effective amount of the compound to a subject, treatment is carried out to decrease the amount of disease-causing virus, including by binding of CD206-expressing cells.

In additional embodiments, the invention provides treatment using a compound comprising a dextran backbone having one or more CD206 targeting moieties and one or more chemotherapeutic agents attached thereto. The CD206 targeting moieties and chemotherapeutic agents may be attached via linkers, including degradable, hydrolysable, and acid-sensitive linkers.

The disclosure also includes diagnostic embodiments with detection label functionality. Label examples described include fluorescent labels, MRI chelators such as DTPA, and SPECT/PET or CT contrast radionuclides/labels.

Claims Coverage

The document includes three independent claims covering Formula (II) CD206-targeted chemotherapeutic conjugates, macrophage targeting to decrease disease-causing virus, and dextran-backbone compounds bearing CD206 targeting moieties and chemotherapeutic agents.

Flaviviridae disease treatment with formula (II) CD206-targeted chemotherapeutic conjugates

Administering to a subject in need thereof an effective amount of a compound of Formula (II) for treating a disease caused by infection by a flaviviridae family virus, wherein at least one R comprises a CD206 targeting moiety and at least one A comprises a chemotherapeutic agent.

Macrophage targeting of flaviviridae infection using formula (II) compounds to decrease disease-causing virus

Administering to a subject in need thereof an effective amount of a compound of Formula (II) having at least one R that comprises a CD206 targeting moiety and at least one A that comprises a chemotherapeutic agent to treat the disease and decrease the amount of disease-causing virus by targeting macrophages.

Dextran backbone CD206-targeted chemotherapeutic conjugates for treating flaviviridae-caused disease

Administering to a subject in need thereof an effective amount of a compound comprising a dextran backbone having one or more CD206 targeting moieties and one or more chemotherapeutic agents attached thereto for treating a disease caused by infection by a flaviviridae family virus.

Overall, the independent claims define a CD206-targeted conjugate architecture (Formula (II) and/or a dextran backbone) that includes chemotherapeutic agents and is intended to treat flaviviridae infection-caused disease by decreasing disease-causing virus.

Stated Advantages

Decreases the amount of disease-causing virus.

Treats a disease caused by infection by a flaviviridae family virus.

Treatment is effective through binding of the compound to CD206 expressing cells rather than binding to the virus.

Provides diagnostic embodiments using a detection label.

Documented Applications

Treating a disease caused by infection by a flaviviridae family virus by administering CD206-targeting dextran/Formula (II) compound conjugates with chemotherapeutic agents.

Targeting macrophages to decrease a disease-causing flaviviridae family virus amount using CD206-targeting compounds.

Diagnostic/imaging methods using disclosed CD206-targeting/dextran-based carrier-drug conjugates with detection labels.
