Abstract
The invention provides to a powdered composition of additives and a method of use thereof for increasing the visibility, potency and coverage of disinfectant solutions, such as bleach.
Core Innovation
The invention provides a colored disinfection solution that comprises one or more disinfectants selected from sodium hypochlorite, calcium hypochlorite, hydrogen peroxide, peracetic acid, and benzalkonium chloride, together with a surfactant and a colorant. The colorant is sufficient to color the disinfectant solution so that the colored solution clearly marks where it has or has not been applied when applied as a spray or film to a surface or object.
The colored disinfectant solution is characterized in that the color fades to clear within a period of time. This fading behavior provides a time-limited visual indication of where the disinfectant has been applied and avoids persistent visible coloration on the treated surfaces.
The disclosure also provides colored disinfectant composition concepts that include a thickening agent and a hydrotrope in addition to the disinfectants, surfactant, and colorant. In this way, the invention combines disinfectant activity with a visually trackable, time-fading coloring of the applied disinfection solution.
Claims Coverage
The document includes three independent claims. The claims specify three inventive features: a colored disinfectant solution that marks applied versus non-applied areas and fades to clear within a period of time, a method of applying the colored disinfectant solution as a spray or film, and a colored disinfectant composition with additional ingredient constraints.
Colored disinfectant solution marks application and fades to clear
Providing a disinfection solution comprising one or more disinfectants selected from sodium hypochlorite, calcium hypochlorite, hydrogen peroxide, peracetic acid, and benzalkonium chloride; a surfactant; and a colorant, wherein the colorant is sufficient to color the disinfectant solution, and the color clearly marks where the disinfectant solution has or has not been applied and fades to clear within a period of time.
Applying colored disinfectant as a spray or film
Applying the colored disinfectant solution as a spray or film to the surface or object in need of disinfection, wherein the color clearly marks where the disinfectant solution has or has not been applied and fades to clear within a period of time.
Colored disinfectant composition with surfactant, colorant, thickening agent, and hydrotrope
A colored disinfectant composition consisting of one or more disinfectants selected from sodium hypochlorite, calcium hypochlorite, hydrogen peroxide, peracetic acid, and benzalkonium chloride, a surfactant, a colorant, a thickening agent, and a hydrotrope.
The independent claims center on a colored disinfectant solution or composition that includes specified disinfectants plus a surfactant and a colorant, with spray or film application that visually marks applied areas and then fades to clear. The composition claim further requires a thickening agent and a hydrotrope.
Stated Advantages
Clearly marks where the disinfectant solution has or has not been applied.
Fades to clear within a period of time.
Avoids persistent staining by fading to clear.
Documented Applications
Disinfecting a surface or object by applying a colored disinfectant solution as a spray or film.
Increasing the visibility of a disinfectant solution applied to a surface or an object so that applied versus non-applied areas are visually indicated.
