Abstract

Disclosed systems, methods, and products include a self-contained electroencephalogram (EEG) recording patch including a first electrode, a second electrode and where the first and second electrodes cooperate to measure a skin-electrode signal, a substrate containing circuitry for generating an EEG signal there-from, amplifying the EEG signal, digitizing the EEG signal, and retrievably storing the EGG signal in a programmatic fashion. The patch also comprises a power source and an enclosure that houses the substrate, the power source, and the first and second electrodes in a unitary package.

Core Innovation

The invention provides generating an individualized seizure signature for a patient based on electroencephalogram (EEG) data from a plurality of EEG channels. The signature is used to determine an EEG channel from the plurality of EEG channels having a highest probability of detecting future seizures.

The invention further provides instructions for placing a self-contained EEG sensor at a location associated with the EEG channel. The self-contained EEG sensor comprises a pair of measuring electrodes and records EEG channel data at the location associated with the EEG channel via a hydrogel sticker that contacts skin of the patient.

In addition, the invention supports individualized channel selection and subsequent recording using the sensor with hydrogel sticker skin contact. The signature and channel selection are aligned with detecting future seizures, and dependent aspects further specify signature generation using a probability based on a rate of spike-wave discharges recorded on each channel.

Claims Coverage

The document contains two independent claims, a computer-implemented method and a non-transitory computer-readable medium, that share the same core inventive sequence: generate an individualized seizure signature from EEG data, select a highest-probability EEG channel for future seizure detection, instruct placement of a self-contained EEG sensor at the associated scalp location, and record EEG using a pair of electrodes via a hydrogel sticker that contacts skin.

Individualized seizure signature generation from multi-channel EEG

Generate an individualized seizure signature for a patient based on electroencephalogram (EEG) data from a plurality of EEG channels.

Highest-probability channel selection for future seizure detection

Determine, based on the individualized seizure signature, an EEG channel from the plurality of EEG channels having a highest probability of detecting future seizures.

Instruction-based sensor placement at channel-associated scalp location

Provide instructions for placing the self-contained EEG sensor at a location associated with the EEG channel.

Recording EEG at the instructed location using a hydrogel sticker

Record, with the pair of measuring electrodes of the self-contained EEG sensor, EEG channel data at the location associated with the EEG channel via a hydrogel sticker that contacts skin of the patient.

Across both independent claims, the inventive coverage centers on individualized seizure-signature generation from a plurality of EEG channels, highest-probability channel selection for detecting future seizures, instructions for sensor placement at the channel-associated location, and recording EEG at that location using a self-contained sensor with hydrogel sticker skin contact.

Stated Advantages

Selects an EEG channel having a highest probability of detecting future seizures.

Enables recording EEG channel data at a location associated with the selected EEG channel using a hydrogel sticker that contacts skin of the patient.
