Abstract
Methods and systems for X-ray and fluoroscopic image capture and, in particular, to a versatile, multimode imaging system incorporating a handheld X-ray emitter operative to capture non-invasive images of a target; a stage operative to capture static X-ray and dynamic fluoroscopic images of the target; a system for the tracking and positioning of the X-ray emission to improve safety of obtaining X-ray images as well as improve the quality of X-ray images. Where the devices can automatically limit the field of the X-ray emission.
Core Innovation
The invention provides a non-invasive imaging system for confirming placement of an object positioned in an examination area. The system includes a non-invasive imaging sensor having a detecting perimeter configured to receive an emission energy, such that a non-invasive image of the object is generated when the object is positioned on or adjacent to the non-invasive imaging sensor. The system is arranged with position tracking implements fixedly positioned relative to the non-invasive imaging sensor to provide positioning-related context for the imaging process.
An emitting apparatus includes an aperture opening configured to emit the emission energy in an emission profile. The emitting apparatus further includes a position tracking apparatus configured to produce a positioning signal and a camera system configured to produce an image signal. The positioning signal is produced upon detecting one or more of the plurality of position tracking implements, and the system uses the resulting positioning signal to convert into positioning data of the emitting apparatus relative to the non-invasive imaging sensor.
A display receives the image signal to produce a real-time image having a point of view from the aperture opening. The control system uses the positioning data to generate a first virtual image of the detecting perimeter and a second virtual image of the emission profile, and then displays the first virtual image and the second virtual image with the real-time image. This overlay of virtual images with the real-time view supports confirmation of object placement relative to the sensor detecting perimeter and the emission profile.
Claims Coverage
The relevant content includes one independent claim (clm-00001). The claim covers a tracked, real-time, overlaid visualization approach using positioning data derived from fixed implements relative to a non-invasive imaging sensor, with corresponding virtual images of the sensor perimeter and the emission profile displayed with the real-time view from the aperture opening.
Tracked emission relative to the imaging sensor for confirming placement
A non-invasive imaging system configured to confirm placement of an object by using a non-invasive imaging sensor with a detecting perimeter and an emitting apparatus with an aperture opening that emits an emission profile, where the emitted view is related to the sensor through fixedly positioned position tracking implements and a position tracking apparatus that detects the implements to produce a positioning signal.
Control-based conversion of positioning signal into sensor/emission virtual overlays
A control system configured to convert the positioning signal into positioning data of the emitting apparatus relative to the non-invasive imaging sensor, and to use the positioning data to generate a first virtual image of the detecting perimeter and a second virtual image of the emission profile.
Real-time display combining point-of-view imaging with virtual perimeter/profile images
A display configured to receive the image signal to produce a real-time image having a point of view from the aperture opening, and to display the first virtual image and the second virtual image with the real-time image on the first display.
Across the independent claim, the core coverage is the combination of tracking-derived positioning data from implements fixed relative to the sensor, generation of virtual images corresponding to the detecting perimeter and emission profile, and concurrent display of those virtual images with a real-time point-of-view image from the emitting aperture.
