Abstract

An embodiment of a uterine hemorrhage controlling system comprises a suction module including a suction end coupleable to a pump by a connecting tube, and a sealing module coupled to the suction module. The system may further comprise the pump and a filter coupled to the suction module. A uterine hemorrhage controlling method comprises: shielding a suction module that has been delivered into a uterus; sealing an entrance into the uterus while the suction module is situated within the uterus; applying a negative pressure within the uterus upon activation of a pump; and maintaining the negative pressure within the uterus to induce uterine contraction. The method may further comprise delivering the suction module into the uterus; transmitting bodily fluids, out of the uterus through the suction module, and filtering the bodily fluids.

Core Innovation

The document describes an improved uterine hemorrhage controlling system and method that uses a transvaginal suction module and a sealing module. The suction module includes a suction end delivered into a uterine cavity and is coupled to a pump-connected suction end, optionally including a filter. The system applies and maintains uterine negative pressure within the uterine cavity to induce uterine contraction, counteracting uterine atony.

A shielding function is used for the suction module, and an entrance to the uterine cavity is sealed while the suction end is situated within the uterine cavity. Sealing is described at a location within a vaginal canal, and multiple sealing-module configurations are provided, including an inflatable balloon seal, a radially expanding membrane seal with a deformable member, an axially deforming seal, and a porous fluid-absorbing seal.

The document further describes system configurations and operational concepts for maintaining negative pressure, including coupling to a pump and optionally obstructing a suction module-to-pump connection to retain pressure after pump deactivation. It also describes filtering bodily fluids to protect pump function and enable blood-loss monitoring, along with monitoring and maintaining negative pressure for a stated duration.

Claims Coverage

The partial content provides one independent claim (clm-00001). This independent claim covers a uterine hemorrhage controlling method with four main inventive actions: shielding a transvaginally delivered suction module, sealing an entrance within the vaginal canal, applying negative pressure within the uterine cavity, and maintaining that negative pressure to induce uterine contraction. It also includes a sealing-location limitation that is explicitly tied to a location within a vaginal canal.

Shielding a transvaginally delivered suction module

Shielding a suction module having a suction end that has been delivered transvaginally into a uterine cavity.

Sealing an entrance within a vaginal canal

Sealing an entrance into the uterine cavity while the suction end is situated within the uterine cavity, wherein sealing the entrance comprises sealing the entrance at a location within a vaginal canal.

Applying uterine negative pressure

Applying a negative pressure within the uterine cavity.

Maintaining negative pressure to induce uterine contraction

Maintaining the negative pressure within the uterine cavity, thus inducing uterine contraction.

Across the independent claim, the core coverage is a method that shields a transvaginally delivered suction module, seals an entrance within the vaginal canal while the suction end is in the uterine cavity, applies uterine negative pressure, and maintains that negative pressure to induce uterine contraction.

Stated Advantages

Inducing uterine contraction to counteract uterine atony.

Documented Applications

Uterine hemorrhage control using a transvaginal suction module with sealed entrance and maintained uterine negative pressure.
