Abstract

A computer-implemented method includes receiving a signal associated with a characteristic of an actuation event of a medicament delivery device. The method includes establishing a communications link (e.g., via a short-range wireless protocol), between a mobile computing device and a medicament delivery device. A wireless first signal associated with a first motion profile of the medicament delivery device is then received from the medicament delivery device. A second signal associated with a second motion profile of the mobile computing device is generated. The method then includes producing a notification via the mobile computing device when A) a magnitude of the first motion profile is outside of a first threshold and B) a magnitude of the second motion profile is outside of a second threshold.

Core Innovation

The invention describes a battery assembly that includes a battery housing with an outer surface and a first connector defining a connector volume and a keyway. A battery is contained within the housing and includes a positive terminal and a negative terminal. A first clip is coupled about the battery housing and the battery, and the first clip includes a first contact portion, a second contact portion, and a first terminal that moves within the connector volume.

The battery assembly further includes a second clip having a third contact portion and a second terminal, where the third contact portion is engaged with the other of the positive terminal or the negative terminal of the battery and the second terminal is within the connector volume. Movement of the first terminal within the connector volume allows the first terminal and the second terminal to align when a second connector is coupled to the first connector. The keyway is configured to be matingly coupled to a second connector of a battery wire.

The battery assembly is configured to be coupled to auto-injector, pen-injector, medication pump, prefilled syringe, nasal delivery device, inhaler, or a simulated medicament delivery device. The described connected medicament delivery devices establish a short-range wireless link to a mobile computing device and transmit motion or actuation characteristics, which are used for notification and event detection.

The document also describes determining delivery events from actuation sensors and generating notifications for compliance and event detection in a remote connected health architecture. A service platform and database platform support wireless emergency signaling and connected-health medicament delivery system functionality with event detection modules or use modules.

Claims Coverage

The provided material contains one independent claim. The claim’s coverage centers on a clip-based battery assembly with a connector/keyway, terminal alignment within a connector volume, and configurable coupling to multiple medicament delivery device types, including simulated medicament delivery devices.

Connector volume and keyway aligned terminals via movable clip terminal

A battery housing having a first connector defining a connector volume and a keyway, a first clip with a first terminal configured to move within the connector volume, and wherein movement of the first terminal within the connector volume allows the first terminal and a second terminal to align when a second connector is coupled to the first connector.

Clip-based electrical contacts mapped to battery positive/negative terminals

A battery contained within the battery housing with a positive terminal and a negative terminal, a first clip having a first contact portion engaged with the outer surface of the battery housing and a second contact portion engaged with one of the positive terminal or the negative terminal, and a second clip having a third contact portion engaged with the other of the positive terminal or the negative terminal.

Configurable mechanical/electrical coupling to medicament delivery devices including simulated devices

The battery assembly is configured to be coupled to any one of an auto-injector, a pen-injector, a medication pump, a prefilled syringe, a nasal delivery device, an inhaler, or a simulated medicament delivery device.

Across the independent claim, the battery assembly combines a keyway-defined connector with a connector volume in which one clip terminal moves to enable alignment with another terminal on coupling, while using clip-based contacts to engage the battery’s positive and negative terminals and enabling coupling to multiple medicament delivery devices, including a simulated medicament delivery device.
