Abstract
A phage dispensing system comprises a user interface, a phage treatment computing system, a phage laboratory, and a phage dispensing apparatus, including a dispensing kiosk. The user interface allows a treating physician to request testing of a patient sample by the phage laboratory to identify a phage mixture treatment. The phage computing system arranges shipping of the sample and provision of the identified phage mixture treatment to a dispensing apparatus located near the patient. The dispensing apparatus has a stock of phage vials which are used to prepare and dispense doses of the identified phage mixture treatment.
Core Innovation
The invention relates to a phage dispensing system that includes a phage dispensing apparatus having a computing apparatus, a storage portion with a plurality of vials containing different phages, and a dispensing portion at a treatment location of a patient. The computing apparatus receives information over a network from a remote computing device regarding a patient and a phage mixture treatment specifying one or more phages based on a phage-host sensitivity profile.
The phage dispensing apparatus further includes one or more robotic systems controlled by the computing apparatus to remove the one or more vials containing the one or more phages specified by the phage mixture treatment from the storage portion to the dispensing portion to dispense one or more pharmaceutically acceptable doses. The phage mixture treatment is prepared using phage vials stored in the storage portion, and the computing apparatus controls the one or more robotic systems to remove plural vials containing different phages to a preparation portion to prepare the phage mixture treatment using the different phages of the plural vials.
The method aspect of the invention dispenses a phage mixture treatment from the phage dispensing apparatus by receiving, by a computing apparatus, information over a network from a remote computing device regarding a patient and a phage mixture treatment specifying one or more phages based on a phage-host sensitivity profile. The method further includes storing a plurality of vials containing different phages in a storage portion, and controlling, by the computing apparatus, one or more robotic systems to remove one or more vials specified by the phage mixture treatment from the storage portion to a dispensing portion to dispense one or more pharmaceutically acceptable doses, with the computing apparatus, storage portion, dispensing portion, and robotic systems located at the patient treatment location.
Claims Coverage
The provided independent claims cover a networked, computer-controlled phage dispensing apparatus and a dispensing method, with phage selection based on a phage-host sensitivity profile and robotic removal of phage-containing vials for dispensing pharmaceutically acceptable doses at the patient treatment location. The provided set includes 3 independent claims.
Networked reception of patient-specified phage mixture based on a phage-host sensitivity profile
A computing apparatus receives information over a network from a remote computing device regarding a patient and a phage mixture treatment for the patient specifying one or more phages based on a phage-host sensitivity profile.
Treatment-location robotic dispensing from storage to dispensing portion
One or more robotic systems controlled by the computing apparatus remove one or more vials containing the one or more phages specified by the phage mixture treatment from the storage portion to the dispensing portion to dispense one or more pharmaceutically acceptable doses, wherein the computing apparatus, storage portion, dispensing portion, and robotic systems are at a treatment location of the patient.
Preparation by combining different phage vials into the phage mixture treatment
The computing apparatus controls the one or more robotic systems to remove plural vials from the storage portion having different phages for the phage mixture treatment to a preparation portion to prepare the phage mixture treatment using the different phages of the plural vials.
Method dispensing by network-receiving patient and phage mixture treatment
Receiving by a computing apparatus information over a network from a remote computing device regarding a patient and a phage mixture treatment for the patient specifying one or more phages based on a phage-host sensitivity profile.
Method robotic removal of specified vials at a patient treatment location
Controlling by the computing apparatus one or more robotic systems to remove one or more vials containing the one or more phages specified by the phage mixture treatment from the storage portion to a dispensing portion to dispense one or more pharmaceutically acceptable doses, wherein the computing apparatus, storage portion, dispensing portion, and one or more robotic systems are at a treatment location of the patient.
Across the independent claims, the core claim coverage is: receiving patient information and a phage mixture treatment over a network, specifying one or more phages based on a phage-host sensitivity profile, storing different phage-containing vials, and using computing-controlled robotic systems at the patient treatment location to remove the specified vials and dispense pharmaceutically acceptable doses, with an additional independent claim covering preparing the phage mixture treatment by combining different phage vials into a preparation portion.
