Abstract
A launderable bactericidal and virucidal fabric finish formulation. The first component is a bactericidal and virucidal agent represented by formula (I): wherein n is 7; R1, R2, and R3 are jointly or independently selected from H or one of the following groups: wherein R4 is selected from CH3 or H; m is an integer from 2 to 10; p is an integer from 9 to 15; q is an integer from 2 to 10. A second component includes one or more crosslinkers and/or one or more catalysts. A third component includes one or more transition metal salts.
Core Innovation
The invention provides a kit for a launderable bactericidal and virucidal fabric finish formulation for home laundry. The kit includes a first component having a bactericidal and virucidal agent represented by formula (I) with n=7, where R1, R2, and R3 are jointly or independently selected from H or groups with defined substituent patterns, and where R4 is selected from CH3 or H. At least one of R1, R2 or R3 is selected from the group (II), (III), (IV), (V), (VI) or (VII), and the kit demonstrates bactericidal and virucidal activity as a fabric finish.
The kit further includes a second component comprising one or more crosslinkers and/or one or more catalysts, and a third component comprising one or more transition metal salts. The described crosslinkers include citric acid and various polycarboxylic acids and chelating agents, and the described catalysts include phosphate and related species and cyanamide-type compounds and sodium hydroxide.
The disclosed approach links the bactericidal and virucidal activity to a functionalized beta-cyclodextrin mechanism that provides sialic-acid-mimicry to irreversibly bind enveloped viral spike glycoproteins. The formulation also emphasizes laundering durability by using crosslinkers/catalysts to form ester linkages, and synergy from the transition metals for an oligodynamic/virucidal effect.
Claims Coverage
The document includes two independent claims. Across these claims, there are three core inventive elements: a specific formula (I) bactericidal and virucidal agent with n=7 and constrained substituent selection, a two-part auxiliary system using a second component of crosslinkers and/or catalysts plus a third component of transition metal salts, and a launderable fabric-finish performance requirement for bactericidal and virucidal activity.
Launderable bactericidal and virucidal kit with formula (I) agent
A kit for a launderable bactericidal and virucidal fabric finish formulation for home laundry comprising a first component having a bactericidal and virucidal agent represented by formula (I) wherein n is 7; R1, R2, and R3 are jointly or independently selected from H or one of the groups; R4 is selected from CH3 or H; and at least one of R1, R2 or R3 is selected from the group (II), (III), (IV), (V), (VI) or (VII), wherein the kit demonstrates bactericidal and virucidal activity as a fabric finish.
Crosslinkers or catalysts second component with transition metal salts third component
A kit wherein a second component comprises one or more crosslinkers and/or one or more catalysts, and a third component comprises one or more transition metal salts.
Launderable bactericidal and virucidal fabric by sequential dip-coating solutions
A method of preparing a launderable bactericidal and virucidal fabric comprising a first solution comprising a first and a second component; dip-coating a fabric in the first solution; drying and/or curing the dip-coated fabric; providing a second solution comprising a third component; dip-coating the fabric in the second solution; and obtaining treated fabric that demonstrates bactericidal and virucidal activity.
The claim set defines a launderable bactericidal and virucidal fabric finish based on a specific formula (I) agent with n=7 and enumerated substituent selection, combined with a crosslinkers/catalysts second component and a transition metal salts third component, and further requires treated fabric demonstrating bactericidal and virucidal activity.
