Abstract
Intelligence production suffers from inadequate collaboration, poor information sharing, and lack of visibility into a complex production process, resulting in intelligence reports that are not aligned to the user's needs. This exacerbates decision-making problems by preventing critical data from reaching the appropriate staff, which prevents commanders from achieving their desired mission requirements due to incomplete or inadequate information. Using Object-Based Production, Adaptive Process Management, and Entity Management technologies, a new wiki-like capability was created that provides a wiki's ease of use and understanding while addressing weaknesses such as lack of multi-level security, no enforcement of publishing standards, and lack of product currency, providing an intelligence production solution addressing the above needs.
Core Innovation
The invention provides a next-generation “wiki-like” intelligence production system that dynamically creates and manages content by tracking and maintaining subjective accuracy of the content. The content comprises a plurality of independently editable knowledge units, and the system produces one or more desired logical representations of information from the editable knowledge units using semantic object-based production of information and adaptive process management of such information.
Atomic knowledge units are independently editable artifacts stored with attribute data in a knowledge store/database. Container knowledge units are assembled on-the-fly into desired logical representations without “publishing” static blobs, and the system applies fine-grained metadata to knowledge units, including provenance, security/classification, sources, workflow instance information, and characterization of confidence/trust/subjective accuracy.
Dynamically applied ontologies support the structure and organization of the logical representations derived from the knowledge units. Adaptive process management propagates changes so that when a knowledge unit is updated, owners of impacted container knowledge units/workflows are identified and notified, and the logical representations are updated accordingly. The system maintains auditability while providing “living intelligence” in which outputs stay current.
Claims Coverage
The document includes two independent claims. The inventive coverage centers on semantic object-based production of information and adaptive process management over independently editable knowledge units selected into desired logical representations, with characterization at attribute level and independent record storage in a knowledge store/database.
Dynamically creating and managing content using subjective accuracy tracking
A computer-implemented method receiving a user query, identifying characterizing attributes of independently editable knowledge units, storing attribute information in an independent record in a knowledge store or database, identifying desired logical representations from the user query, identifying which knowledge units contain information related to the desired logical representations through a semantic object-based production process to form a subset of knowledge units related to the user’s specific need, and displaying the subset in the one or more desired logical representations.
Dynamically creating and managing content system for subjective accuracy tracking
A system having a computer or computer system with a controller or processor, receiving a user query, identifying characterizing attributes of independently editable knowledge units, storing attribute information in an independent record in a knowledge store or database, identifying desired logical representations from the user query, identifying which knowledge units contain information related to the desired logical representations through a semantic object-based production process to form a subset of knowledge units related to the user’s specific need, and displaying the subset in the one or more desired logical representations.
The independent claims cover selecting a subset of independently editable knowledge units based on user query-desired logical representations using semantic object-based production, displaying that subset as the representation, and maintaining subjectively accurate content via adaptive process management. Storage of attribute information in independent records in a knowledge store/database and attribute-level characterization of knowledge units underpin the semantic selection and representation production.
Stated Advantages
Provides “living intelligence” where outputs stay current while maintaining auditability.
Identifies and notifies owners of impacted container knowledge units/workflows when underlying knowledge units change.
Avoids “publishing” static blobs by assembling container knowledge units on-the-fly for desired logical representations.
Documented Applications
Fine-grained search using artifact-level edits, sourcing/author queries within date ranges, and security-level artifact filtering.
Intelligence use for “living intelligence,” where outputs stay current and maintain auditability.
