Abstract
A computing device including a first processor configured for generating a directory structure in response to a metadata associated with a software, retrieving an update file, performing the software update on a test system, and verifying the software update. A memory configured for storing the software update in the directory structure. A second processor configured for confirming the validity of the software update, performing the software update on a secure computing system in response to a positive confirmation of the validity of the software update and generating an indication of an update of the secure computing system. A display configured to display the directory structure and the indication of the update of the secure computing system.
Core Innovation
The invention relates to receiving a metadata file indicative of a first software update and a second software update, and using the metadata to generate a directory structure in response to a metadata associated with the first software update and the second software update. The directory structure is generated to retrieve a first software update file and a second software update file, and to store the first software update and the second software update within the directory structure. The approach operates with a test system to execute the first software update and the second software update and to validate their validity.
The invention further includes confirming the validity of the first software update and the validity of the second software update, where subsequent execution on a secure computing system is performed in response to positive confirmation of the validity. An indication of an update of the secure computing system is generated based on the positive confirmation. The directory structure and the indication are displayed for a user interface, so the generated directory structure and the indication are presented together.
A hierarchy of the directory structure is generated on a virtual hard drive in response to an update metadata file, and the update file is stored within the hierarchical directory structure in response to positive validation of the update on the test system. A user interface displays the hierarchical directory structure and an indication of the positive validation and also generates user input. A second processor retrieves the update file from the hierarchical directory structure on the virtual hard drive and executes the update file on an operation system in response to receiving the user input via the user interface.
Claims Coverage
The document explicitly provides three independent claims (apparatus, method, and computing device). Across these independent claims, the main inventive features repeatedly cover metadata-driven hierarchical directory structure generation, test-system execution with validity verification, and secure-system execution gated by positive confirmation, together with display of the directory structure and an indication of update validity (and, in the computing device claim, user-input-mediated execution).
Metadata-received directory structure generation for first and second updates
An apparatus receives an interface configured for receiving a metadata file indicative of a first software update and a second software update, and a first processor generates a directory structure in response to a metadata associated with the first software update and the second software update for retrieving a first software update file and a second software update file.
Test-system execution and validity verification for both updates
The first processor is configured for performing the first software update and the second software update on a test system, and for verifying a validity of the first software update and a validity of the second software update.
Validity confirmation gating secure-system execution with indication
A second processor confirms the validity of the first software update and the validity of the second software update, performs the first software update and the second software update on a secure computing system in response to a positive confirmation of the validity, and generates an indication of an update of the secure computing system.
Display of directory structure and update indication
A display is configured for displaying the directory structure and the indication of the update of the secure computing system.
Network-interface receipt of metadata and directory structure generation
A method receives, by a network interface, a metadata file indicative of a first software update and a second software update, and generates, by a first processor, a directory structure in response to a metadata associated with the first software update and the second software update.
Retrieval, test execution, and validity verification in the method
The method retrieves, by the first processor, a first software update file and a second software update file, performs, by the first processor, the first software update and the second software update on a test system, and verifies, by the first processor, a validity of the first software update and a validity of the second software update.
Positive confirmation leading to secure-system execution and indication display
The method confirms, by a second processor, the validity of the first software update and the validity of the second software update, performs, by the second processor, the first software update and the second software update on a secure computing system in response to a positive confirmation of the validity, generates an indication of an update of the secure computing system, and displays the directory structure and the indication via a user interface.
Hierarchical directory structure on a virtual hard drive and validated storage
A computing device includes a first processor configured for generating a hierarchical directory structure on a virtual hard drive in response to an update metadata file, for retrieving an update file, for executing the update file on a test system, for validating the update on the test system, and for storing the update file within the hierarchical directory structure in response to a positive validation of the update on the test system.
User interface display and user-input generation for controlled execution
A user interface displays the hierarchical directory structure and an indication of the positive validation of the update on the test system, and generates a user input.
Second-processor retrieval and execution on an operation system in response to user input
A second processor retrieves the update file from the hierarchical directory structure on the virtual hard drive and executes the update file on an operation system in response to receiving the user input via the user interface.
Across the independent claims, the core claim coverage focuses on receiving update metadata for first and second software updates and generating a directory structure to retrieve update files, executing updates on a test system and verifying validity, and confirming validity before performing the updates on a secure computing system only in response to positive confirmation, while generating an indication and displaying the directory structure and indication; the computing device claim additionally specifies hierarchical directory structure on a virtual hard drive and user-input-mediated execution.
