Abstract
Disclosed is a fluid injection device for a needle free syringe is provided that is spring-loadable and comprises a trigger positioned within the housing and actuated by depression of a push-button disposed opposite the dispensing end at an external actuation surface disposed transverse to the injection axis. The trigger has a trigger latch configured to release a trigger catch as heaving part of the spring-loaded piston of the device. The trigger catch is configured to urge the trigger latch in a direction transverse to the injection axis when the piston moves from the unloaded position to the loaded position. The compression spring is retained around the piston and retained within the housing by a piston head. The device further comprises a syringe adapter and a safety cap which prevents accidental triggering.
Core Innovation
The invention relates to a spring-loadable needle-free medical fluid injection device having a housing that extends along an injection axis from a proximal trigger end to a distal dispensing end. A syringe adapter at the dispensing end retains a needle-free syringe such that a plunger of the needle-free syringe is movable within the housing along the injection axis, and a piston within the housing is movable between a loaded position near the trigger end and an unloaded position near the dispensing end.
A compression spring associated with the piston is compressible along the injection axis within the housing to bias the plunger. A trigger mounted near the trigger end is movable between a non-actuated position and an actuated position, and depression of a push-button disposed at an external actuation surface disposed transverse to the injection axis initiates movement such that the piston moves from the loaded position to the unloaded position. The trigger includes a trigger latch configured to engage a trigger catch when the trigger is in the non-actuated position and the piston is in the loaded position, and to release the trigger catch when the trigger is in the actuated position.
The trigger catch is configured to urge the trigger latch in a direction transverse to the injection axis when the piston moves from the unloaded position to the loaded position. The device includes a housing top retainer at the trigger end comprising a venting slot positioned at a distal portion of the housing top retainer near a lower stop socket, and the housing, syringe adapter, and needle-free syringe are configured such that a gas within and a sound created within the housing are directed out the venting slot upon actuation of the fluid injection device.
Claims Coverage
The partial content provides three independent claims. The inventive coverage combines a piston biased by a compression spring and actuated by a trigger mechanism, sound and gas management by directing gas and sound out a venting slot in a housing top retainer, and structural trigger and loader arrangements.
Transverse push-button trigger with trigger latch and catch and venting through a housing top retainer
A fluid injection device having a housing top retainer with an external actuation surface disposed transverse to the injection axis and a venting slot positioned at a distal portion near a lower stop socket, and a push-button actuated trigger with a trigger latch and trigger catch where the trigger catch urges the trigger latch in a direction transverse to the injection axis when the piston moves from the unloaded position to the loaded position; and wherein gas and sound are directed out the venting slot upon actuation.
Removable needle-free syringe with syringe adapter sealing the dispensing end and venting of gas and sound
A fluid injection device with a needle-free syringe and a syringe adapter at the dispensing end that retains the needle-free syringe to create a seal of the dispensing end and wherein the needle-free syringe is removable; together with a housing top retainer defining an external actuation surface disposed transverse to the injection axis and a distal venting slot such that gas within and sound created within the housing are directed out the venting slot upon actuation.
Hinged loader with lip engagement to load piston without stressing the trigger end and venting through a tapered top retainer slot
A fluid injection device having a housing top retainer at the trigger end comprising a venting slot and an external actuation surface with a surface that tapers downward towards the dispensing end, a trigger mounted on the injection axis with a push button including front sliding guide, rear sliding guide, restrainer protrusion, and lever contact, and a loader movable about a hinge between an open state and a closed state to extend a loader plunger through an open end of the syringe adapter to contact the piston and push it into a loaded position; wherein the loader interior retaining surface comprises a lip that engages the syringe adapter outer surface to retain the syringe adapter and housing without stress on the housing trigger end; and wherein gas within and sound created within the housing are directed out the venting slot upon actuation.
Across the independent claims, the inventive features combine a piston biased by a compression spring and actuated by a trigger mechanism, sound and gas management by directing gas and sound out a venting slot in a housing top retainer, and structural trigger and loader arrangements.
Stated Advantages
Directing a gas within and a sound created within the housing out the venting slot upon actuation of the fluid injection device.
Documented Applications
A spring-loadable needle-free medical fluid injection device for injecting fluid using a needle-free syringe.
