Abstract
A method, computing device and computer program product generate a temporary password to control access to a record created in response to an electronic message. An electronic message is parsed to separately identify a plurality of fields that provide different types of information. Record(s) are accessed from a database that are associated with the information provided by at least one field. An action to be initiated by the electronic message is determined to either be taken or to be rejected based upon information provided by the field(s) of the electronic message and also based upon information from the record(s) accessed from the database. If the action is rejected, a record of the electronic message is created for transmission along with information regarding the rejection. A temporary password is also generated to control access to the record created regarding the electronic message and its rejection. The response includes the temporary password.
Core Innovation
The invention provides a computing device configured to generate and provide a temporary password to control access to a record created in response to an electronic message. The electronic message comprises a plurality of fields providing different types of information, and the computing device parses or uses the field information to associate the electronic message with one or more records.
Processing circuitry accesses one or more records associated with information provided by at least one field of the electronic message. Based on the information provided by the one or more fields and also the information from the one or more records, the device determines whether an action to be initiated by the electronic message is to be taken or is to be rejected. When the action is determined to be rejected, the device creates a record comprising information regarding the rejection of the action to be initiated by the electronic message.
The device generates the temporary password to facilitate controlled access to the record, where the temporary password comprises the information regarding the rejection. The device then constructs a response to the electronic message to be transmitted, where the response includes the temporary password. The response indicates rejection with less information than what is contained in the created record, while access to the rejection information in the record is controlled using the temporary password.
Claims Coverage
The document contains three independent claims: one directed to a computing device, one directed to a method, and one directed to a computer program product. Across these independent claims, the main inventive features include evaluating a message-initiated action (take versus reject) using message fields and accessed records, creating a rejection record on rejection, and generating a temporary password that is embedded in a transmitted response to gate access to rejection information.
Temporary password controlling access to a rejection record
Generate and provide a temporary password to control access to a record created in response to an electronic message, where the temporary password facilitates controlled access to the record and comprises the information regarding the rejection.
Determining take versus reject using electronic message fields and accessed records
Determine whether an action to be initiated by the electronic message is to be taken or is to be rejected based upon information provided by one or more fields of the electronic message and also based upon information from one or more records that have been accessed associated with the information provided by the one or more fields.
Creating a rejection record upon rejection of the message-initiated action
In an instance in which the action is determined to be rejected, create a record comprising information regarding a rejection of the action to be initiated by the electronic message.
Response includes the temporary password for controlled access
Construct a response to the electronic message that is to be transmitted, wherein the response includes the temporary password.
Computer program product with program code instructions for the message evaluation and gated rejection access
A computer program product configured to generate and provide a temporary password to control access to a record created in response to an electronic message, where the program code instructions are configured, upon execution, to access associated records, determine take versus reject using message fields and accessed record information, create a rejection record when rejected, generate the temporary password comprising rejection information, and construct a response that includes the temporary password.
Claim scope centers on using a temporary password embedded in a response to control access to a rejection record, where the acceptance or rejection decision is made by evaluating electronic message fields together with accessed records. In rejection instances, the system creates a rejection record and uses its rejection information as part of the temporary password while transmitting a response that includes the temporary password.
Stated Advantages
Facilitates controlled access to the record containing rejection information using the temporary password.
Enables the transmitted response to include the temporary password while the response rejection indication contains less information than the created record.
Documented Applications
Electronic healthcare message processing including prescription/medical claim request scenarios using message-field information such as purchaser/patient, product/service, and quantity to determine rejection reasons.
Rejection reason determination including overutilization and drug-to-drug interaction based on purchaser/patient and quantity analysis and associated records.
Workflows involving override processing and suppression of subsequent rejections, including diversion-related notification workflows and law enforcement notification for diverter/potential diverter patients.
