Abstract

A headlight device includes a headband for encircling a head of a wearer, a padding system having a pad attached to at least a portion of the headband, the pad including a first layer and a second layer. The first layer includes a first cushioning material having a first durometer and or the second layer includes a second cushioning material having a second durometer, or the first layer is perforated in a first perforation pattern and or the second layer is perforated in a second perforation pattern.

Core Innovation

The invention relates to a headlight device that includes a headband for encircling a head of a wearer and a padding system attached to at least a portion of the headband. The padding system includes a pad comprising a first layer and a second layer, with cushioning properties refined by a first durometer and or a second durometer, and/or by different perforation patterns for each layer.

In the disclosed configuration, the pad is perforated using a first perforation pattern in the first layer and/or a second perforation pattern in the second layer. In certain embodiments, both the first layer and the second layer are perforated, and most perforations in one layer are generally circular while most perforations in the other layer are in a shape other than circular. A rear pad embodiment includes an inner surface and an outer surface connected to the headband, with the inner surface including a recess.

The invention also provides a headband with a front portion, a top portion, and an occipital basket, configured for wearing on or about a head of a wearer. Pads are attached for each of the front portion, the top portion, and the occipital basket, and the front portion is connected to the occipital basket by the top portion. The occipital basket is attached to the top portion such that a distance between the front portion and the occipital basket is adjustable based on a size and or shape of the head of the wearer, and in further embodiments the headband positioning is configured so that pads do not rest over a suture of the wearer’s skull.

Claims Coverage

The partial disclosure includes two independent claims, with coverage centered on a layered padding system and a multi-portion headband arrangement with adjustable distance between front portion and occipital basket.

Layered padding system refined by durometer and perforation pattern

A headlight device comprising a headband for encircling a head of a wearer; a padding system comprising a pad attached to at least a portion of the headband; the pad comprising a first layer and a second layer; wherein the first layer comprises a first cushioning material having a first durometer and or the second layer comprises a second cushioning material having a second durometer; or the first layer is perforated in a first perforation pattern and or the second layer is perforated in a second perforation pattern.

Adjustable headband distance using front portion, top portion, and occipital basket

A headlight device comprising a headband comprising a front portion, a top portion, and an occipital basket, wherein the headband is configured for wearing on or about a head of a wearer; a padding system comprising, for each of the front portion, the top portion, and the occipital basket, a pad attached thereto; the front portion being connected to the occipital basket by the top portion; and the occipital basket being attached to the top portion such that a distance between the front portion and the occipital basket is adjustable based on a size and or shape of the head of the wearer.

Across the independent claims, the main claim coverage is directed to a layered padding system defined by durometer and/or perforation patterns, and to an adjustable multi-portion headband architecture in which the distance between the front portion and occipital basket is adjustable based on a wearer’s head size and or shape.
