Abstract

Systems and methods for providing a customized exercise protocol to a computing device of a user. As the user performs the exercise protocol, one or more cameras of the computing device can track the user's movements. The user's movement are assessed to determine if proper form and technique is being used.

Core Innovation

The invention relates to a fitness tracking computing system that receives a personalized exercise protocol associated with a user and stores the personalized exercise protocol in a data store. The system receives video data from a computing device via a communications network, where the computing device is operated by the user and includes a display and a camera. The video data comprises metadata and images of the user collected by the camera, and the metadata comprises performance data of the camera and a screen resolution of the display.

Based on the metadata, the system determines an operational parameter of the computing device. Based on the operational parameter of the computing device, the system adjusts a setting of a body tracking model. After adjusting the setting of the body tracking model, the system analyzes the video data using the body tracking model to track real-time movements of the user to determine compliance with the personalized movement instruction.

The system causes a personalized movement instruction to be displayed on the display of the computing device, where the personalized movement instruction is based on the personalized exercise protocol. The system causes visual feedback to be displayed on the display of the computing device, and the visual feedback provides real-time range of motion feedback and includes a repetition counter that advances only when real-time movements of the user are determined to comply with the personalized movement instruction.

Claims Coverage

The independent claims cover three inventive features: metadata-based adjustment of a body tracking model, display of a personalized movement instruction based on a personalized exercise protocol, and real-time movement analysis with visual feedback and repetition counting.

Metadata-based operational parameter determination and body tracking model adjustment

Receive video data comprising metadata and images of the user collected by a camera, determine an operational parameter of the computing device based on the metadata, and adjust a setting of a body tracking model based on the operational parameter.

Personalized movement instruction display tied to personalized exercise protocol

Cause a personalized movement instruction to be displayed on the display of the computing device, where the personalized movement instruction is based on the personalized exercise protocol.

Real-time movement analysis for compliance using the adjusted body tracking model

Subsequent to adjusting the setting of the body tracking model, analyze the video data using the body tracking model to track real-time movements of the user to determine compliance with the personalized movement instruction.

Visual feedback including real-time range of motion feedback

Cause visual feedback to be displayed on the display of the computing device, where the visual feedback provides real-time range of motion feedback.

Repetition counter advanced only on compliance

Cause a repetition counter to be displayed on the display and advance the repetition counter only when real-time movements of the user are determined to comply with the personalized movement instruction.

Web browsing application video reception and specific body tracking model settings

Receive video data via a web-based communications arrangement where the computing device executes a web browsing application, determine performance data of the camera and a screen resolution based on metadata, and adjust a setting of a body tracking model where the setting is any of a video scale factor and buffer length.

The independent claims collectively cover receiving video data with metadata, determining an operational parameter, adjusting a body tracking model, analyzing real-time movements for compliance with a personalized movement instruction, and providing visual feedback including repetition counting that advances only on compliance.
