Abstract

A radiographic imaging system includes a radiographic detector having a scanning device to obtain patient identifying information. The detector is programmed to display the patient identifying information in human readable form and to access additional information about the patient stored in networked databases.

Core Innovation

A portable digital radiographic detector includes an image receptor configured to receive incident x-ray radiation and to generate electronic image data. The detector further includes a processor and a network interface to connect the detector to a network so that the processor transmits the electronic image data over the network. The processor is also configured to transmit a displayable user interface over the network to a remote device operable to display the user interface.

The detector stores calibration and configuration information, including factory calibration data and periodic calibration data such as dark/offset, gain/flat-field, defect maps, and lag/retention information. The detector uses the stored calibration data to perform calibration correction and additional image processing on-board, and transmits corrected and/or processed image data, including presentation-ready image data formatted for transmission.

The detector supports hot-swap/registration using detector unique identifiers, such as serial/MAC/IP/name, to retrieve and/or synchronize appropriate calibration and exposure technique information across different imaging systems/rooms. The detector can transmit images at full/sub-sampled/preview versions to improve operator preview times and can display patient identifying information using scanning and retrieve additional patient data from networked databases/worklists.

Claims Coverage

The document contains one independent claim (clm-00001). It is directed to a digital radiographic detector that generates electronic image data, transmits the image data over a network, and transmits a displayable user interface over the network to a remote device.

Digital radiographic detector with network image transmission

A processor and an image receptor generate electronic image data in response to incident x-ray radiation, and the processor transmits the electronic image data over the network.

Remote displayable user interface transmission

The processor transmits a displayable user interface over the network to a remote device operable to display the user interface.

The independent claim covers combining x-ray image data generation with network transmission and transmitting a displayable user interface from the detector to a remote device for display.

Stated Advantages

Improved operator preview times by transferring images at full/sub-sampled/preview versions.

Documented Applications

Remote operation in which a remote device displays a displayable user interface transmitted by the detector.

Retrieval and synchronization of calibration and exposure technique information across different imaging systems/rooms using detector unique identifiers during hot-swap/registration.

Transmitting calibration-corrected and/or processed radiographic image data over a network.

Displaying patient identifying information and retrieving additional patient data using scanning and networked databases/worklists.
