Abstract

An apparatus and method collect and deactivate pathogens (for example, coronaviruses) within a magnetic particle in order to reduce the number of active pathogens in a body.

Core Innovation

The described invention provides an apparatus for damaging, or destroying at least one pathogen in a body using at least one magnetic actuator external to a body and at least one device containing at least one fillable section and at least one magnetizable material. The device is configured to draw a pathogen into the fillable section and to damage, or destroy the pathogen within the fillable section.

The pathogen within the fillable section is destroyed or damaged by shear or other mechanical forces, where the forces are actuated by magnetic or electromagnetic radiation emitted by the at least one electromagnetic actuator external to the body. The device is configured to rotate to draw the pathogen into the fillable section by rotation created suction generated at least in part by actuation of the magnetizable material under the influence of a magnetic field generated by the magnetic actuator to rotate the device.

The described system optionally includes additional mechanisms and capabilities, including destroying or damaging the pathogen by heat produced by magnetizable material heated by electromagnetic radiation, and detecting a pathogen by imaging changes in a magnetic field generated by the magnetic actuator. The device can also be delivered into the body orally, by inhalation, or by intravenous injection, and may include biodegradability and pathogen-related targeting or selectivity features.

Claims Coverage

The document contains two independent claims, each centered on using an external magnetic actuator with a magnetizable, fillable device to capture a pathogen and then damage or destroy it using magnetic or electromagnetic actuation. Across the independent claims, the primary inventive features include pathogen capture into a fillable section, external magnetic or electromagnetic actuation of destructive action inside the fillable section, and rotation-created suction driven by magnetizable-material actuation under an external magnetic field.

External magnetic actuation apparatus with fillable magnetizable device for pathogen capture and destruction

An apparatus for damaging, or destroying at least one pathogen in a body, the apparatus comprising at least one magnetic actuator external to a body and at least one device containing at least one fillable section and at least one magnetizable material, wherein the device is configured to draw a pathogen into the fillable section of the device and damage, or destroy the pathogen within the fillable section of the device.

Shear or other mechanically actuated pathogen destruction by external magnetic or electromagnetic radiation

The device is configured to destroy or damage the pathogen within the at least one fillable section of the device by shear or other mechanical forces, the forces actuated by magnetic or electromagnetic radiation emitted by the at least one electromagnetic actuator external to the body.

Rotation-created suction for drawing the pathogen into the fillable section

The device is configured to rotate to draw the pathogen into the fillable section of the device by rotation created suction generated at least in part by actuation of the magnetizable material under the influence of a magnetic field generated by the magnetic actuator to rotate the device.

Oral, inhalation, or intravenous introduction of the magnetizable fillable device

The at least one device is configured to be delivered into the body orally, by inhalation, or by intravenous injection.

Method using external magnetic actuator and magnetizable fillable device to draw and damage pathogens

A method of destroying or damaging one or more pathogens in a body, comprising introducing a device containing magnetizable material and also containing a fillable section into the body and at least one magnetic actuator external to the body, drawing the pathogen into the fillable section of the device, and damaging, or destroying the pathogen in the fillable section of the device.

Shear or other mechanically actuated pathogen destruction by external magnetic or electromagnetic radiation

Wherein the pathogen within the fillable section of the device is destroyed or damaged by shear or other mechanical forces, the forces actuated by magnetic or electromagnetic radiation emitted by at least one electromagnetic actuator external to the body.

Rotation-created suction for pathogen capture during the method

Wherein the device is configured to rotate to draw the pathogen into the fillable section of the device by rotation created suction generated at least in part by actuation of the magnetizable material under the influence of a magnetic field generated by the magnetic actuator to rotate the device.

Oral, inhalation, or intravenous introduction of the device in the method

Wherein the at least one device is configured to be introduced orally, by inhalation, or by intravenous injection.

Both independent claims cover an external magnetic-actuator-driven approach where a magnetizable, fillable device draws a pathogen into its fillable section and then damages or destroys the pathogen using shear or other mechanical forces actuated by magnetic or electromagnetic radiation, with rotation used to generate rotation created suction for pathogen capture.
