Abstract

The invention relates to a respiratory assistance apparatus (10) comprising a rigid internal casing (1) comprising a motor compartment (3) within which a motorized micro-blower (2) is arranged. The casing (1) is formed from a first and a second half-casing (1a, 1b) which are rigidly connected to each other in a leaktight manner.

Core Innovation

The invention relates to a respiratory assistance apparatus comprising a rigid casing in which a motor compartment encloses a motorized micro-blower. The rigid casing is formed from a first and a second half-casing which are rigidly connected to each other in a leaktight manner. The casing includes an air inlet compartment with an air inlet opening in communication with the atmosphere, and the air inlet compartment is in fluidic communication with the motor compartment via at least one air outlet opening.

The casing further includes a gas outlet compartment comprising a gas supply opening and fed with gas by the motorized micro-blower. In addition to the air and micro-blower gas paths, the rigid casing includes an oxygen circuit with an oxygen inlet and at least one oxygen outlet, with the oxygen outlet being in fluidic communication with the motor compartment. A venting circuit is also formed, comprising an air inlet formed in the air inlet compartment and an air outlet.

The venting circuit provides an alternative air path in the event of micro-blower failure, so that a patient breathing path remains available. The micro-blower airflow path is implemented inside the motor compartment, including a volute around the micro-blower, with gas passage connections through the casing components. A peripheral wall surrounds a part of the outer housing of the micro-blower to define a gas passage space for gas passage between the wall and the micro-blower housing.

The arrangement supports cooling of the micro-blower and may include optional HEPA filtration along the gas path. The apparatus can be installed so that oxygen from a source and a flexible conduit deliver a respiratory interface for CPAP/BiPAP or emergency use under control by functional control means.

Claims Coverage

The independent claim coverage includes one independent claim (clm-00001). It defines a respiratory assistance apparatus with five main inventive structural/functional elements: a rigid two-part leaktight casing enclosing a motorized micro-blower and internal compartmentalized air and gas circuits, including an oxygen circuit, and a venting circuit providing an air path.

Two-part leaktight rigid casing enclosing motorized micro-blower

The casing is formed from a first and a second half-casing which are rigidly connected to each other in a leaktight manner, the rigid casing comprising a motor compartment within which a motorized micro-blower is arranged.

Air inlet compartment fluidly connected to motor compartment

The casing comprises an air inlet compartment comprising an air inlet opening in communication with the atmosphere, the air inlet compartment being in fluidic communication with the motor compartment via at least one air outlet opening.

Gas outlet compartment fed by motorized micro-blower

The casing comprises a gas outlet compartment comprising a gas supply opening, the gas outlet compartment being fed with gas by the motorized micro-blower.

Oxygen circuit with oxygen inlet and oxygen outlets to motor compartment

The casing comprises an oxygen circuit comprising an oxygen inlet and at least one oxygen outlet, the at least one oxygen outlet being in fluidic communication with the motor compartment.

Venting circuit including air inlet formed in air inlet compartment and air outlet

The casing comprises a venting circuit comprising an air inlet, formed in the air inlet compartment, and an air outlet.

Independent claim clm-00001 is directed to a respiratory assistance apparatus with a rigid, leaktight two-part casing enclosing a motor compartment with a motorized micro-blower, together with an air inlet compartment, a gas outlet compartment, an oxygen circuit delivering oxygen to the motor compartment, and a venting circuit providing an air inlet/output path.

Stated Advantages

The venting circuit provides an alternative air path in the event of micro-blower failure, so that a patient breathing path remains available.

The arrangement supports cooling of the micro-blower.

Documented Applications

CPAP/BiPAP and emergency use as a respiratory assistance apparatus configured for patient breathing.

Patient supply installation connecting an oxygen source, a flexible conduit, and a respiratory interface to the respiratory assistance apparatus.
