Abstract
An electronic device includes a housing forming an enclosed chamber. The housing has a top portion and a bottom portion. One or more sensors is provided within the chamber and configured to interface with a user to generate physiological data associated with the user. A set of electrodes is provided on the bottom portion of the housing. Each electrode in the set of electrodes is a single member having a corresponding inner electrode portion within the chamber and an outer electrode portion outside the housing. A set of magnets is provided on the bottom portion of the housing.
Core Innovation
The invention provides an electronic device having a housing that forms an enclosed chamber with a top portion and a bottom portion, where the housing is usable in a first configuration and a second configuration. One or more sensors are provided within the chamber to interface with a user and generate physiological data, and a processor positioned within the chamber processes the physiological data. A battery is positioned within the chamber and coupled to the processor, and a screen provided on the top portion displays user interfaces.
In the first configuration, the device presents a watch user interface having a first display format providing at least one of a time display and a calendar, and the watch user interface is displayed when the housing is used in the first configuration. In the second configuration, the processor displays a patch user interface having a second display format that is different from the first display format, and the patch user interface is displayed when the housing is used in the second configuration.
The device includes a set of electrodes provided on the bottom portion of the housing, where each electrode is a single member with a corresponding inner electrode portion within the chamber and an outer electrode portion outside the housing. The outer electrode portion is positionable against skin of the user when the housing is used in the first configuration, and the outer electrode portion is positioned against a corresponding connecting member of a patch assembly when the housing is used in the second configuration.
A set of magnets is also provided on the bottom portion, physically separated from the electrodes by spacing, and the magnets facilitate securing the housing to the patch assembly when the housing is used in the second configuration.
Claims Coverage
The partial record includes two independent claims. Each independent claim centers on a configurable wearable electronic device with a housing chamber, physiological-data sensors and processor, configuration-dependent display formats, and bottom electrodes and separated magnets to interface with either user skin or a patch assembly.
Configuration-dependent physiological sensing with chamber processor and battery
A housing forming an enclosed chamber with top and bottom portions usable in a first configuration and a second configuration, one or more sensors within the chamber generating physiological data, a processor within the chamber processing the physiological data, and a battery within the chamber coupled to the processor.
Watch and patch user interfaces selected by housing configuration
A screen on the top portion displaying a first user interface and a second user interface, where a watch user interface with a first display format providing at least one of a time display and a calendar is displayed in the first configuration and a patch user interface with a second display format different from the first is displayed in the second configuration.
Single-member electrodes with inner and outer portions
A set of electrodes provided on the bottom portion where each electrode is a single member having a corresponding inner electrode portion within the chamber and an outer electrode portion outside the housing, with the outer electrode portion positionable against skin of the user in the first configuration and positioned against a corresponding connecting member of a patch assembly in the second configuration.
Electrode and magnet spacing for patch securing
A set of magnets provided on the bottom portion, physically separated from the electrodes by spacing, where the magnets facilitate securing the housing to the patch assembly when the housing is used in the second configuration.
Across the independent claims, the core inventive combination is a configurable housing chamber wearable that generates physiological data and changes the displayed user interface between a watch user interface and a patch user interface based on whether the housing is in the first or second configuration, while bottom electrodes and spacing-separated magnets enable differing interface relationships to the user skin versus a patch assembly.
