Abstract

The invention relates to an injection device. Exemplary embodiments of the invention comprise an application element, an injection needle, an injection needle housing, a drive system for the injection movement, and a retraction system. In exemplary embodiments, a substance is injected during the retraction movement of the injection needle.

Core Innovation

The injection device (100) introduces a substance into the body of a subject and injects the substance during retraction of the needle. The device comprises an application element (10) having an opening (13), at least one injection needle (32), an injection needle housing (20), and a motor (3) configured to drive a piston of a syringe. The application element is a cooling plate, and the cooling-plate opening provides access for injection at the body of the subject.

The injection device is arranged so that the injection occurs during needle retraction, meaning the substance is introduced while the needle is being retracted. The injection needle housing (20) supports the at least one injection needle (32), and the motor (3) drives the syringe piston to inject the substance according to the needle retraction movement. The mechanical drive concept described includes a motor-driven retraction system and configurations that can include a lead screw and a screw nut.

The application element is further described as being a cooling plate, with preferred embodiments specifying a cooling plate implemented as a Peltier element. The injection device is described as having further refinement options for how injection is distributed along an injection distribution region during retraction, including multi-needle arrangements in the injection needle housing and configurations for injecting with different depths and corresponding volumes during retraction.

Claims Coverage

The independent claim defines an injection device with an application element as a cooling plate, needle retraction during injection, and a motor driving a syringe piston. Additional inventive features are specified in dependent claims, refining cooling-plate implementation, mechanical drive architecture, multi-needle housing, retraction-phase injection depth handling, and volume-by-depth injection capability.

Needle-retraction injection with motor-driven syringe piston

An injection device comprising an application element having an opening, at least one injection needle, an injection needle housing, and a motor configured to drive a piston of a syringe, wherein the substance is injected into the body during retraction of the needle.

Cooling plate application element

The application element is a cooling plate.

Cooling plate implemented as a Peltier element

The injection device includes a cooling plate that is specifically implemented as a Peltier element.

Motor with lead screw and screw nut injection system

The injection device delivers the substance using an injection system that includes a motor, a lead screw, and a screw nut.

Injection needle housing containing multiple needles

The injection needle housing contains two, three, four, five, or more injection needles.

Defined injection depth ranges including a most-preferred depth value

The injection device includes an injection needle whose injection depth is defined within multiple preferred ranges, including a most-preferred specific depth value.

Different injection volumes at different injection depths during retraction

The injection device is configured so that, during retraction of the injection needle, different injection volumes can be injected at different injection depths.

Across the claim set, the core inventive concept is injection occurring during needle retraction in an injection device with a cooling-plate application element and a motor-driven syringe piston. Dependent features further specify the cooling plate as a Peltier element, define a lead screw/screw nut mechanical injection system, expand needle count in the needle housing, constrain injection depth ranges, and enable injecting different volumes at different injection depths during retraction.
